A two-time team captain, Woody was one of the best wide receivers for Hampden-Sydney playing from 1997-2000 and breaking nearly every school record for receivers. Upon graduation, Woody was the best receiver in program history with 181 receptions, 2,256 yards and eleven touchdowns. He led the team in receptions in three of his four seasons. Woody tied a record for catches in a game when he caught ten against Randolph-Macon as a freshman. He then broke that record with 12 receptions against Randolph-Macon in 2000. In 2000, he also set single-season records with 79 receptions, 957 yards and seven touchdown while earning All-ODAC and All-America honors.
