A four-year letterman for the Tigers in basketball, Misenhelter, at 5'6", was an outstanding passer who also could score. He teamed with Hampden-Sydney Hall of Famer Emerson Johnson to form one of the most successful combinations in Tiger history. Playing his last two seasons for coach Billy McCann, Misenhelter and the Tigers compiled a 27-16 record. In what would be his final victory as a basketball Tiger, Misenhelter scored 13 fourth-period points as H-SC recovered from an 18-point deficit to defeat Virginia Tech, 83-82. Also a second baseman on the H-SC baseball squad, Misenhelter hit .333 in 1950. Dick Misenhelter lives in Verona, PA, with his wife Lydia. He is a retired secondary school administrator.
