Game Day Information
These guidelines are intended to encourage support of Hampden-Sydney athletics, uphold community values, promote the safety and enjoyment of all participants, and permit tailgating.
GAME TIME
Unless otherwise specified on the Athletics schedule, all home Tiger Football games are held on Saturdays with kickoff at 1:00 pm on Fulton Field.
PARKING
Parking opens at 8:00 am on game day. Early entry or overnight parking is not permitted. Early or overnight setup of tailgates is not permitted.
Parking lots should be vacated no less than two hours after the conclusion of the game.
A parking fee of $20 per car is collected by the Hampden-Sydney Volunteer Fire Department. Oversized vehicle fees vary, questions can be addressed with Public Safety at (434) 223-6000. Except by permit, RV/OVs are not permitted on-campus.
- RV (recreational vehicle) and/or OV (oversized vehicle) parking is extremely limited and must be reserved no less than 5 days in advance of any given home game. To purchase a single-game RV/OV permit, please visit https://go.hsc.edu/rvparking
- Once all of the RV/OV permits have been purchased for a particular game, no other RV/OVs will be allowed onto the Hampden-Sydney College campus on game day
Event staff will be directing traffic and assisting with parking.
From 10:00 am on game day until after the conclusion of the game, College Road will be closed to through traffic from the main/front gates to College Church. You may still travel through campus utilizing Athletic Center Drive.
GENERAL POLICIES
Weapons including, but not limited to, firearms, fireworks, explosives, knives, bows and arrows, or martial arts equipment are prohibited on-campus.
Possession, delivery, sale, use, or manufacture of any illegal drug and/or controlled substance or drug paraphernalia containing drug residue is prohibited on-campus.
Open containers of alcohol are not allowed outside of designated tailgate areas. Alcohol (to include unopened boxes, cases, bottles, or cans) being carried by foot throughout campus must be concealed within a cooler or bag. Visible alcohol is considered an open container and, when carried on public streets and sidewalks, is illegal.
Alcohol, in any form, and coolers are not allowed in Everett Stadium or within 150 feet of Fulton Field.
Bags are subject to inspection to ensure the safety of our guests and facilities.
Pets must be on a leash and well-behaved at all times. Pet excrement must be picked up and discarded in proper trash receptacles.
Sales and solicitations are prohibited without written permission from the Office of College Events.
CONDUCT
Everyone should have a great experience! We ask that fans be respectful of those around them and remain mindful of their choice of language and activity. Individuals acting in a manner that is disorderly, disrespectful, disruptive, or infringing with the rights of others by use of abusive language or tone and behavior may be told to leave College property and may be subject to citation or arrest.
Public intoxication, reckless or disorderly conduct, or other unlawful conduct is prohibited and may result in removal and being banned from future events. Where unlawful actions are present, individuals may be ticketed, arrested and/or subject to College sanctions. Various law enforcement agencies are present on game days. Guests should be prepared to provide identification upon request. All guests who intend to consume alcohol must wear a College issued wristband.
Causes for removal from college property are as follows, but not limited to:
- Underage drinking
- Serving or providing alcohol to underage guests
- Common containers such as kegs, party balls, large containers of mixed drinks, tubs/trashcans of cans or bottles of any alcohol
- Large or excessive quantities of alcohol
- Drinking games
- Loud music
RESTROOMS
Restroom facilities are available on the ground floor of Kirk Athletic Center, entrance just behind the scoreboard, and Everett Stadium on the concourse level. Additionally, temporary restrooms are located throughout parking lots.
JV Football Games
New for the 2024 season are Junior Varsity (JV) football games. JV games run on a separate schedule. Parking will be limited. There will be no ABC-permits for JV games and no tailgating. Restroom facilities will be limited to temporary restrooms near the JV field.

Tailgating
Tailgating is defined as parking in a designated area and consuming food and beverages prior to home football games or other College approved events. The laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia and the College's policies forbid the consumption or possession of alcoholic beverages by underage persons.
Tailgate Location and Times
Lots open at 8:00am on game day. Overnight parking or early setups are not permitted. Tailgate spaces are to be empty and clear of debris within 2 hours after the conclusion of the game.
The College allows tailgating with alcohol in select lots. ABC-Permitted tailgate areas are as follows.
- Visiting Team Tailgate: Tennis Court Parking Lot
- Visiting Team reservations are handled within the Athletic department of each college or university.
- Tiger Fan Tailgate: Kirby Field House Parking Lot
- Parking spaces in the Kirby Lot are offered on a "first come, first served" basis.
- Tiger Football Parent Tailgate: The Tiger's Den
- Tiger Parent Tailgate passes are issued via the Athletic department. Passes are required.
- Founders Tailgate: The Founders Lot
- Founders Lot passes are obtained through membership in the Society of Founders. To make a gift of membership, please contact Matt Weber, Director of Alumni Giving, at mweber@hsc.edu.
- H-SC Student Tailgate: Crawley Lawn
- Student Tailgate passes are obtained through the Office of Student Affairs. To obtain a pass, please contact Dwayne Bowyer, Associate Dean of Students for Student Conduct and Character, at dbowyer@hsc.edu.
Those who will not have alcohol present at their tailgate may make use of any open marked parking space that is adjacent to a grassy area. You are encouraged to make use of the grassy area immediately adjoining your space for tent, table/chairs, and guests. However, encroaching upon the space of other guests, spilling into additional parking spaces, or blocking lanes of egress are prohibited.
Tailgating Guidelines
The following are cause for immediate removal from campus. Where unlawful actions are present, individuals may be ticketed, arrested and/or subject to College sanctions.
- Underage drinking

- Common containers such as kegs, party balls, large containers of mixed drinks, tubs/trashcans of cans or bottles of any alcohol
- Large or excessive quantities of alcohol
- Drinking games
- Loud music
Risk Mitigation
Those who entertain guests at their tailgate are considered Hosts. The Host(s) are responsible for informing their guests and visitors of tailgating guidelines. The Host(s) are responsible for the safety and behavior of their guests, to include consumption of alcohol. Host(s) who have served or provided alcohol are responsible for the behavior and actions of an intoxicated guest. Both Host and guest may be held liable for guest behavior.
Host(s) are responsible for mitigating risk.
- Tailgate (vehicle, tent, table/chairs, guests) must be contained to a single parking space. If you are fortunate enough to park adjacent to a grassy area, you are welcome to make use of the area immediately adjoining your space. However, encroaching upon the space of other guests or blocking lanes of egress are prohibited.
- Guest use of recreational items including, but not limited to, bicycles, skateboards, hover boards, in-line skates, and motorized vehicles such as scooters, ATVs, go-carts, and golf carts is prohibited within tailgate areas.
- Do not leave personal property unattended. Safety and security of personal property is the sole responsibility of its owner.
- While tents are permitted within the tailgate area, stakes/staples/spikes are prohibited due to buried utilities.
Grilling/Food/Debris
Hosts are responsible for keeping the area clean. Trash cans are scattered throughout tailgate areas. Should our receptacles be at capacity, please take your trash with you when you leave.
Where alcohol is provided or served, food and water must also be adequately available.
Prohibited items include but are not limited to: open-flame fires, charcoal or wood grills, fire pits, bonfires, oil-based cooking or frying, electric generators, and propane tanks with a capacity greater than 20lbs.
