H-SC took a 
35-10 ODAC home win past Roanoke on October 25 on Fulton Field at Lewis C. Everett Stadium. The host Tigers led just 7-3 at halftime before outscoring the visiting Maroons 28-7 in the second half during Homecoming Weekend on the Hill with a crowd of 12,123, one of the largest at the College in the last 15 seasons. GU lost 47-7 at home to (20/23)Randolph-Macon on Oct. 25 in our nation's capital city. H-SC is competing in its 131st season of football and 50th year as a charter member of the ODAC. GU is an associate member of the conference in football-only, beginning this year.

Head Coach Vince Luvara
H-SC is led by the second-year head coach who took over the program on December 7, 2023. The former defensive coordinator at Washington & Jefferson (PA) College from 2016-23, Luvara is the 29th head coach in the 131-year history of the storied Hampden-Sydney program. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native is no stranger to NCAA Division III, having played four years at Allegheny (PA) College and coached one year at Allegheny and two years at Misericordia (PA) University—each school members of Division III. Luvara is 11-6 at the College. 
The Series
H-SC leads the overall series against GU, 
2-0, although the two schools have not played since back-to-back games in 1948 and 1949. The Tigers won 39-0 on November 6, 1948 at home, before winning 50-7 on October 22, 1949 on the road.

Carter Sido (Dallas, TX) has passed for 1,684 yards (96-154-6) and 22 touchdowns with six interceptions thrown in seven games, adding 148 yards rushing on 40 attempts (3.47). He leads the ODAC in passing yards, passing yards per game (240.6), passing touchdowns, passing efficiency (193.5), total offense (1,832) and total offense per game (261.7), and is second in completion percentage (62.3). Carter leads NCAA Division III passing yards per completion (17.54), is third in yards per pass attempt (10.94), fifth in passing efficiency, seventh in passing touchdowns, 22nd in points responsible for (132), 23rd in points responsible for per game (18.9), 39th in passing yards, 44th in passing yards per game and 46th in total offense per game.
Junior running back 
Terry Hicks (Clayton, NC) has rushed for 772 yards on 155 attempts (5.0) and 10 touchdowns, adding eight receptions for 88 yards. He leads the ODAC in rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, total touchdowns (10), total points (60) and points per game (8.6), is second in rushing yards per game (110.3), all-purpose yards (860) and all-purpose yards per game (122.86), eighth in total offense (772) and ninth in total offense per game (110.3). Terry ranks 14th in DIII rushing touchdowns, 18th in rushing yards, 20th in rushing yards per game, 30th in total touchdowns, 39th in total points, 41st in points per game and 48th in all-purpose yards per game.
Senior running back/kick return specialist 
Joseph Gonzalez (Spotsylvania) has rushed for 369 yards on 64 attempts (5.8) and five touchdowns, adding one reception for five yards. Jojo has averaged 34.3 yards on 16 kick returns, including a long of 80 yards. He leads the ODAC in kick return yards (549), kick return average, all-purpose yards (923) and all-purpose yards per game (131.86), is tied for fifth in rushing touchdowns, tied for sixth in total touchdowns (5), seventh in rushing yards per game (52.7), eighth in rushing yards and tied for ninth in total points (30). Joseph ranks fourth in DIII kick return average, eighth in kick return yards and 34th in all-purpose yards per game.

Will Foley (Virginia Beach) has rushed for 234 yards on 32 attempts (7.3) and two touchdowns.

Mason Cunningham (Arlington) has 31 receptions for 630 yards and eight touchdowns. He leads the ODAC in receiving yards, receiving touchdowns and receiving yards per game (90.0), is second in yards per reception (20.32), third in receptions and points per game (6.9), fourth in total touchdowns (8) and total points (48), and sixth in all-purpose yards (657) and all-purpose yards per game (93.9). Mason ranks 22nd in DIII receiving touchdowns, 28th in yards per reception, 46th in receiving yards per game and 48th in receiving yards.
Sophomore wide receiver 
Manning Lasso (Raleigh, NC) has 21 receptions for 411 yards and five touchdowns. He is second in the ODAC in receiving touchdowns, third in yards per reception (19.57), fourth in receiving yards and receiving yards per game (58.7), tied for sixth in total touchdowns (5), tied for ninth in total points (30) and tied for 10th in points per game (4.3). Manning ranks 37th in DIII yards per reception.
Senior wide receiver 
Jordan Jackson (Fredericksburg) has 16 receptions for 304 yards and three touchdowns. He is fourth in the ODAC in yards per reception (19.0), tied for seventh in receiving touchdowns and ninth in receiving yards and receiving yards per game (43.4).
Sophomore tight end 
Kam Mahoney (Bristow) has 11 receptions for 155 yards and four touchdowns. He is tied for third in the ODAC in receiving touchdowns.

Robert Clarke (Atlanta, GA) has 50 tackles, including 22 solo, 7.5 for loss, 5.0 sacks, one interception and two pass breakups. He is tied for third in the ODAC in sacks and tied for fifth in tackles for loss.
Sophomore safety 
Mitch Ladamus (Fort Mill, SC) has 49 tackles, including 28 solo, two interceptions, six pass breakups, one quarterback hurry and one fumble recovered. He is tied for third in the ODAC in passes defended (8), tied for fourth in pass breakups and tied for fifth in interceptions.
Senior safety and team captain 
Markevus Graves-Franklin (Lynchburg) has 44 tackles, including 24 solo, 2.5 for loss, two interceptions and one pass breakup. He is tied for fifth in the ODAC in interceptions.

 Frank Brewer (Charlotte, NC) has 39 tackles, including 12 solo, 2.5 for loss, 1.0 sack, two pass breakups, one qb hurry and one fumble recovered.

Kenen Barlowe (North Chesterfield) has 29 tackles, including 10 solo, 4.0 for loss and 3.0 sacks. He is tied for eighth in the ODAC in sacks.

Cam Jackson (Alexandria) has 27 tackles, including 11 solo, 1.0 for loss, five pass breakups and one blocked kick (FGA). He is tied for sixth in the ODAC in pass breakups and tied for ninth in passed defended (5).

James Townsend (Hardeeville, SC) has 24 tackles, including 11 solo, 0.5 for loss, two interceptions and eight pass breakups. He leads the ODAC in passes defended (10) and pass breakups (8) and tied for fifth in interceptions. James is 18th in DIII passes defended.

Camden Richardson (Midlothian) has averaged 37.3 yards on 16 punts, including a long of 55 yards, with four fair-caught and four downed inside the 20. Richardson is also 20-22 on PAT kicks (.909) and 2-2 on field goal attempts (1.000), including a long of 30 yards. He is tied for first in the ODAC in field goal percentage, is fourth in kick scoring points (26), tied for fourth in field goals made, fifth in punting average and tied for 10th in points per game (4.3).

Freshman quarterback JeVaughn Sargent has passed for 463 yards (43-93-7) and four touchdowns with seven interceptions thrown in five games, adding 86 yards rushing on 36 attempts (2.4) and two touchdowns. Junior running back Marcus Brown-Gabriel has rushed for 391 yards on 63 attempts (6.2) and two touchdowns. Senior wide receiver Jaylen Johnson has 16 receptions for 160 yards and one touchdown. Senior wide receiver Andrae' Green has 15 receptions for 192 yards and two touchdowns.
Senior defensive back Zefan Nathanson has 56 tackles, including 34 solo, 4.5 for loss and one forced fumble. Senior linebacker Jacob Hundley has 47 tackles, including 27 solo, 3.5 for loss, 1.0 sacks and one fumble recovered. ODAC Offensive Player of the Week (X2)
Carter Sido was named the 
ODAC Football Offensive Player of the Week following his game-high and career-high 330 yards (17-25-1) passing and a game-high three touchdowns with one interception, adding 14 yards rushing vs. Roanoke (10/25) ... Carter was also named the ODAC Football 
Offensive Player of the Week following his game-high 276 yards (12-17-1) passing and a game-high and career-high six touchdowns with one interception for a remarkable 311.7 passing efficiency rating—all during the first 30 minutes at Guilford (9/27). His six touchdown passes tie for the third-most in program history, only behind J.D. Ricca (2005) and Travis Lane (2011), each with seven TDs in a game.

William V. Campbell Trophy®
Robert Clarke is the program's sixth-straight 
semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy®, college football's premier scholar-athlete award. Robert is among 177 semifinalists from all divisions, while one of three from the ODAC and among the 33 elected from Division III. He follows in the footsteps of Tyler Howerton '21, Kaleb Smith '22, Michael Harris '23, George Langhammer '24 and 
Will Thomas '25—Howerton went on to become one of 12 finalists for the prestigious award in 2020. Robert is a Dean's List student majoring in economics and business with a minor in rhetoric, and has attained a 3.59 GPA. Unfortunately, he was not among the 16 finalists announced by the National Football Foundation (NFF) & College Hall of Fame on October 22.
Allstate AFCA Good Works Team®
Carter Sido was nominated for the 2025 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team®, recognizing college football student-athletes and head coaches for their commitment to community service and leadership beyond the gridiron. He devoted 40-plus hours of service to the following causes during 2024-25: The Big Event, Literacy Days and the Brother4Brother Mentorship Program. Carter is also a member of QBs vs Cancer, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a common objective to raise money in the fight against cancer—his efforts benefit Breast Cancer Awareness and Research. Unfortunately, he was not among the final roster of 23 award recipients announced by the American Football Coaches Association on September 16.
Hampden-Sydney Football
H-SC has a 130-plus year history of football, amassing 589 wins since beginning in 1892. The Tigers have experienced great success over the years, including nine ODAC Championships, 10 Mason-Dixon Conference Championships, seven NCAA Division III Championship Playoff appearances, 88 All-America selections, 13 Academic All-America selections and 223 First Team All-ODAC honorees. H-SC also played in the 1970 and 1971 Knute Rockne Bowls (NCAA College Division East Regional Championship).
From Division III To FBS Memphis
Ryan Silverfield '03 became the 25th head coach in the University of Memphis football history in December 2019 and began his tenure by leading the Tigers into their first major bowl game appearance: the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic in Dallas. He is currently 49-22 overall in his sixth season at the helm of the Tigers, including 7-1 in 2025. Silverfield led Memphis to a record of 11-2 in 2024, including a 42-37 win past West Virginia in the Scooter's Coffee Frisco Bowl on December 17, 2024 at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas. Ryan coached four seasons as an undergraduate at H-SC, starting as an offensive assistant in 2000, serving as the defensive line coach during 2001 and 2002, before coaching the tight ends and H-backs in 2003.
