H-SC took a
61-8 ODAC road win at Gallaudet on Nov. 1 in Washington, D.C. The host Tigers led 34-0 after one quarter and 61-0 at halftime en route to the triumph past the host Bison. BC enjoyed a bye week this past weekend after a 20-17 road loss in overtime at Washington and Lee on Oct. 25 in Lexington. H-SC is competing in its 131st season of football and 50th year as a charter member of the ODAC. BC is also a charter member of the conference.

Head Coach Vince Luvara
H-SC is led by the second-year head coach who took over the program on December 7, 2023. The former defensive coordinator at Washington & Jefferson (PA) College from 2016-23, Luvara is the 29th head coach in the 131-year history of the storied Hampden-Sydney program. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native is no stranger to NCAA Division III, having played four years at Allegheny (PA) College and coached one year at Allegheny and two years at Misericordia (PA) University—each school members of Division III. Luvara is 12-6 at the College.

62-18, including a 32-16 advantage in ODAC games. The Tigers have won 12 of the last 17 games played between the two programs, including a
28-21 road win last Nov. 2 in Bridgewater. The Eagles won on their last visit to Everett Stadium on September 30, 2023, scoring the game-winning touchdown and 2-point conversion with just 23-seconds remaining for a
39-38 road win. H-SC and BC first met on the gridiron in 1929, a 38-0 road win for the Garnet & Grey.

Carter Sido (Dallas, TX) has passed for 1,750 yards (101-162-6) and 23 touchdowns with six interceptions thrown in eight games, adding 148 yards rushing on 40 attempts (3.7). He leads the ODAC in passing yards, passing yards per game (218.8), passing touchdowns, passing efficiency (192.5), total offense (1,898) and total offense per game (237.3), and is third in completion percentage (62.3).
Junior running back
Terry Hicks (Clayton, NC) has rushed for 851 yards on 162 attempts (5.3) and 12 touchdowns, adding eight receptions for 88 yards. He leads the ODAC in rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, total touchdowns (12), total points (72) and points per game (9.0), is second in rushing yards per game (106.4), all-purpose yards (939) and all-purpose yards per game (117.4), and ninth in total offense (851).
Senior running back/kick return specialist
Joseph Gonzalez (Spotsylvania) has rushed for 385 yards on 68 attempts (5.7) and five touchdowns, adding two receptions for 19 yards. Jojo has averaged 34.3 yards on 16 kick returns, including a long of 80 yards. He leads the ODAC in kick return yards (549), kick return average, all-purpose yards (953) and all-purpose yards per game (119.1), is tied for sixth in rushing touchdowns, tied for seventh in total touchdowns (5), tied for eighth in total points (30), ninth in rushing yards, 10th in rushing yards per game (48.1).

Will Foley (Virginia Beach) has rushed for 332 yards on 37 attempts (9.0) and four touchdowns. He is tied for ninth in the ODAC in rushing touchdowns.

Mason Cunningham (Arlington) has 33 receptions for 667 yards and nine touchdowns. He leads the ODAC in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns, is second in receiving yards per game (83.4) and yards per reception (20.2), tied for second in total touchdowns (9) and total points (54), fourth in receptions and points per game (6.8), and sixth in all-purpose yards (694) and all-purpose yards per game (86.8).

Manning Lasso (Raleigh, NC) has 22 receptions for 420 yards and five touchdowns. He is second in the ODAC in receiving touchdowns, third in yards per reception (19.1), fifth in receiving yards and receiving yards per game (52.5), tied for seventh in total touchdowns (5) and tied for eighth in total points (30) and points per game (3.8).

Mitch Ladamus (Fort Mill, SC) has 53 tackles, including 29 solo, two interceptions, six pass breakups, one quarterback hurry and one fumble recovered. He is fifth in the ODAC in pass breakups, tied for fifth in passes defended (8) and tied for sixth in interceptions.

Markevus Graves-Franklin (Lynchburg) has 44 tackles, including 24 solo, 2.5 for loss, two interceptions and one pass breakup in six games. He is tied for sixth in the ODAC in interceptions.

William V. Campbell Trophy®
Robert Clarke is the program's sixth-straight
semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy®, college football's premier scholar-athlete award. Robert is among 177 semifinalists from all divisions, while one of three from the ODAC and among the 33 elected from Division III. He follows in the footsteps of Tyler Howerton '21, Kaleb Smith '22, Michael Harris '23, George Langhammer '24 and
Will Thomas '25—Howerton went on to become one of 12 finalists for the prestigious award in 2020. Robert is a Dean's List student majoring in economics and business with a minor in rhetoric, and has attained a 3.59 GPA. Unfortunately, he was not among the 16 finalists announced by the National Football Foundation (NFF) & College Hall of Fame on October 22.
Allstate AFCA Good Works Team®
Carter Sido was nominated for the 2025 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team®, recognizing college football student-athletes and head coaches for their commitment to community service and leadership beyond the gridiron. He devoted 40-plus hours of service to the following causes during 2024-25: The Big Event, Literacy Days and the Brother4Brother Mentorship Program. Carter is also a member of QBs vs Cancer, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a common objective to raise money in the fight against cancer—his efforts benefit Breast Cancer Awareness and Research. Unfortunately, he was not among the final roster of 23 award recipients announced by the American Football Coaches Association on September 16.
Hampden-Sydney Football
H-SC has a 130-plus year history of football, amassing 590 wins since beginning in 1892. The Tigers have experienced great success over the years, including nine ODAC Championships, 10 Mason-Dixon Conference Championships, seven NCAA Division III Championship Playoff appearances, 88 All-America selections, 13 Academic All-America selections and 223 First Team All-ODAC honorees. H-SC also played in the 1970 and 1971 Knute Rockne Bowls (NCAA College Division East Regional Championship).
From Division III To FBS Memphis
Ryan Silverfield '03 became the 25th head coach in the University of Memphis football history in December 2019 and began his tenure by leading the Tigers into their first major bowl game appearance: the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic in Dallas. He is currently 50-22 overall in his sixth season at the helm of the Tigers, including 8-1 in 2025. Silverfield led Memphis to a record of 11-2 in 2024, including a 42-37 win past West Virginia in the Scooter's Coffee Frisco Bowl on December 17, 2024 at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas. Ryan coached four seasons as an undergraduate at H-SC, starting as an offensive assistant in 2000, serving as the defensive line coach during 2001 and 2002, before coaching the tight ends and H-backs in 2003.
