RMC won 35-7 at home past league member Ferrum College, leading 28-0 at halftime and 35-7 after three quarters toward its triumph.
Head Coach Vince Luvara
H-SC is led by the first-year head coach who took over the program on December 7, 2023. The former defensive coordinator at Washington & Jefferson (PA) College since 2016, Luvara becomes the 29th head coach in the 130-year history of the storied Hampden-Sydney program. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native is no stranger to NCAA Division III, having played four years at Allegheny (PA) College and coached one year at Allegheny and two years at Misericordia (PA) University—each school members of Division III.
The Series
H-SC narrowly leads the all-time series against RMC,
60-57-11. The Yellow Jackets, however, have won 10-straight and 12 of the last 13 games played between the two storied programs. RMC won
49-10 last Nov. 11, 2023 in Ashland, and the Yellow Jackets won
38-17 on their last visit to Everett Stadium on Nov. 12, 2022. The last time the final margin was less than a touchdown was on Nov. 14, 2015 ... a
14-9 win for RMC in Ashland. The Tigers' last win in the series was on Nov. 16, 2013 ... a
28-26 road win in Ashland. H-SC's last win in the series at home was on Nov. 13, 2010 ... a
31-28 win at Everett Stadium.
The archrivals first met on the gridiron in 1893, as RMC won that first meeting, 12-6, in the Tigers' second year as a program. H-SC returned the favor in 1896 with a 24-0 win. The longest winning streak in the series is the current 10-straight by RMC. H-SC won eight consecutive games in the series from 1917-23, while playing twice during both 1917 and 1919.
