HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College travels to No. 1 Seed Washington and Lee University for the semifinals of the 2026 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men's Lacrosse Tournament on Friday, May 1, at 5 p.m. at Wilson Field. The Tigers are 10-8 overall, and went 7-3 in the ODAC four fourth place, and are coming off an overtime win in the quarterfinals against No. 5 Seed Randolph-Macon College 12-11. The host Generals are 13-5 overall, and went 9-1 in the ODAC to finish first, and are coming off a 27-8 win over No. 8 Seed Shenandoah University in the quarterfinals. Head Coach Jay Rostan '03
H-SC is led by the 10th-year head coach, who took over the program on June 3, 2016, after 13 years as an assistant. Rostan is the fourth head coach in the 50-year history of the Tiger lacrosse program. Rostan is 118-54 overall at the college and holds the highest winning percentage in program history (.686).

Series History
Washington and Lee lead the all-time series 31-17. Washington and Lee won the game this season 19-8 on April 4, also at Wilson Field. The series has been in favor of the Generals the last six meetings, with Washington and Lee winning four of six, but H-SC won two in a row to start the run of six games, including the epic four-overtime win on March 29, 2023. Coach Rostan is 4-8 against the Generals since, including 2-4 on the road since taking over in 2016. The first matchup between the schools was in the 1983 season, a 13-7 loss for H-SC.

Scouting Washington and Lee
Washington and Lee is led by 20th-year head coach Gene McCabe, and has won its last seven games. The Maroons are led offensively by senior James Haley (48 goals, 42 assists, 90 points), and freshmen Luke Caldwell (47 goals, 41 assists, 88 points), Tucker Davis (34 goals, 19 assists, 53 points), and Garrett Ferguson (31 goals, 1 assist, 32 points). Defensively, the Generals are led by seniors Jay O'Keefe (24 caused turnovers, 29 ground balls), Colin Beatty (15 caused turnovers, 49 ground balls), and Chris Datz (14 caused turnovers, 36 ground balls). Face-offs should see a combination of junior Thomas Moxley (135-214), sophomore Israel Mikkelson (116-174), and freshman Hunter Hodgers (72-114). The goalkeeping duties should be handled by sophomore JJ Kim. He has a 10-1 record with 60 saves, a 50.8 save percentage, and a 7.86 goals against average. The Generals average 18 goals, and yield 8.67 goals, for a 9.33 scoring margin.

50 Years of Tiger Lacrosse
H-SC enters its 50th season of lacrosse on the Hill, and started from a group of lacrosse enthusiasts in 1973 in Morton Hall, playing its first varsity season in 1976. From that point, the Tigers have amassed an overall record of 479-269, while being 194-90 in the ODAC. H-SC over that time has had a winning season 41 times, only being under .500 on five occasions. The Tigers have made nine NCAA Tournament appearances, won five ODAC Championships, had 238 All-ODAC Selections, 92 All-Americans, including six First-Team Selections, one National Player of the Year, and 20 H-SC Hall of Fame selections.

100 Point Club
Senior
Patrick Hanes (Raleigh, NC) and
Cole Palmer both reached the 100-point milestone this season, becoming the 46th and 47th players to do so. Hanes is only the 16th midfielder to reach the milestone when he assisted on the second goal of the game on April 15 against Randolph College.
Cole Palmer reached the milestone at home against Virginia Wesleyan University on April 8, when he assisted on the 15th goal of the game in the third quarter.

With a win, the Tigers will play in their fifth ODAC Men's Lacrosse Tournament Championship on Sunday, May 3. They will travel to the winner of the No. 2 Seed University of Lynchburg and No. 3 Seed Roanoke College, at a time yet to be determined.
