Paul Amos '92 is in his second year as the Regional Development Officer for Athletics at Hampden-Sydney College during 2025-26, and his fifth year as an assistant lacrosse coach.

H-SC Lacrosse and Football, Class of 1992

  • Lacrosse:  Was recruited by Coach Ray Rostan to play lacrosse after senior football season and played in all 14 games scoring one goal on one shot as a short stick defensive midfielder.  Post-collegiate club, played three seasons as a defenseman for the Virginia Beach Sharks of the American Lacrosse League.
  • Football:  Four-year starter at RB, senior co-captain.  Tied single game scoring record (at the time) with 24 points vs Davidson, was a member of an offense that set the school record for points/game
  • At H-SC, Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy, two-year resident advisor, and member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity

Post College

  • Most recently, Paul just finished a seven-year stint as the Head Lacrosse Coach at Thomas Dale High School, where he was the first head coach after starting the program.  Started the Chester Lacrosse club, which grew to become the program at Thomas Dale HS.  In the first five years, led the program to 46 wins, a regular season conference championship and four appearances in the 6A regional playoffs. Produced numerous All-Conference and All-Region players, two All-State players, four All-Metro Richmond and six players at four ODAC schools. Was named Conference Coach of the Year, Region COY, and a US Lacrosse All-American high school coach.
  • Was one of the leaders in bringing varsity lacrosse into the public schools in Chesterfield County and the Richmond area of Virginia.
  • Prior to TD, Paul was an assistant football and basketball at Nansemond-Suffolk before moving back to Chesterfield and becoming the QB coach at 6A powerhouse Thomas Dale high school for three seasons. In those three years, coached high school quarterbacks who went on to successful careers at Virginia Tech, Hampton University (D1 FCS All-American K), and Chowan (D2 All-American WR).
  • Served as the Vice President of the US Lacrosse Richmond chapter from 2015-2020 and was integral in the rebirth of the Richmond Area HS All-Star game. Instructor for 10 years at Tiger Lacrosse’s Performance Lacrosse Camps at H-SC, instructor for North Meets South Lacrosse and Trojan 40 lacrosse

Paul and his wife, Debbie, reside in Chesterfield and are the parents of two sons, Carter and Griffin, both graduates of the College of William and Mary.
