Hampden-Sydney Announces 2025 Football Schedule

4/3/2025 11:01:00 AM

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College second-year head football coach Vince Luvara has announced his program's upcoming 2025 Schedule that includes eight Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) games, five overall home games, and once-again culminates with the 130th Edition of "The Game" at archrival Randolph-Macon College. The Tigers will open the campaign on the road at Delaware Valley University on Saturday, September 6, at 12 p.m. in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. H-SC completed 2024 at 5-5 overall, 3-4 in the ODAC, tied for fifth among eight teams.

"We are looking forward to a challenging non-conference schedule, playing not only two of the top programs in the country, but the two best programs in Pennsylvania," said Luvara. "Our non-conference schedule will prepare us for what to expect once we start our tough ODAC schedule."

H-SC begins at non-conference opponent Delaware Valley. The Aggies finished 2024 at 8-3 overall, 7-2 in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC), and played in the Centennial-MAC Bowl Series. DVU defeated the Tigers 41-21 in the first-ever meeting between the two schools last Sept. 7 on Fulton Field at Lewis C. Everett Stadium, and has made six NCAA Playoff appearances in the last seven seasons.

The Tigers return home in week two for their home opener against non-conference opponent Washington and Jefferson (PA) College on Saturday, Sept. 13, at 1 p.m. at Everett Stadium. The Presidents finished 2024 at 9-2 overall, 9-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC), and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Playoffs. W&J ranks third all-time in Division III history with 790 wins and has made 27 NCAA Playoff appearances, playing in two National Championship games (1992, 1994), and has won 27 PAC Championships. H-SC is 0-2 against the Presidents, last meeting in 1990, and the contest will be a reunion of sorts as Coach Luvara coached at W&J for eight years prior to arriving on the Hill.

H-SC remains at home in week three for Hall of Fame Weekend, and the first of eight-straight ODAC games, against Shenandoah University on Saturday, Sept. 20, at 1 p.m. at Everett Stadium. The Hornets finished 2024 at 8-3 overall, 5-2 in the ODAC, including a 35-7 home win against the Tigers last Nov. 9. The College will induct the Hall of Fame Class of 2025 the night before (Sept. 19), and the special group of inductees will also be recognized at halftime.

The Tigers are back on the road in week four at Guilford (NC) College on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 1 p.m. in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Quakers finished 2024 at 3-7 overall, 0-7 in the ODAC, including a 31-0 road loss at H-SC last Oct. 5.

H-SC returns home in week five during Family Weekend against Washington and Lee University on Saturday, October 4, at 1 p.m. at Everett Stadium. The Generals finished 2024 at 7-4 overall, 5-2 in the ODAC, including a 28-26 home win against the Tigers last Oct. 12.

The Tigers will enjoy their bye in week six (Oct. 11), as week seven has them on the road at Averett University on Saturday, Oct. 18, at 4 p.m. in Danville. The Cougars finished 2024 at 3-7 overall, 1-6 in the ODAC, including a 42-21 road loss at H-SC last Oct. 26.

H-SC returns home in week eight during Homecoming Weekend against Roanoke College on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 1 p.m. at Everett Stadium. The Maroons are playing their first varsity season of football since 1942, and finished 2024 as a junior varsity program at 4-0 overall, including a 34-27 home win past H-SC's junior varsity last Sept. 8.

The Tigers are back on the road in week nine at Gallaudet University on Saturday, November 1, at 1 p.m. in Washington, D.C. The Bison are an associate member of the conference for football-only, and finished 2024 at 5-4 overall. H-SC is 2-0 against Gallaudet, last meeting in 1949.

H-SC is back home in week 10 against Bridgewater College on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 1 p.m. at Everett Stadium for Senior Day. The Eagles finished 2024 at 6-4 overall, 4-3 in the ODAC, including a 28-21 home loss to H-SC last Nov. 2.

The Tigers are on the road in week 11 to complete the regular season at archrival Randolph-Macon in the 130th Edition of "The Game" on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 1 p.m. in Ashland. The three-time defending conference champion Yellow Jackets finished 2024 at 10-2 overall, 7-0 in the ODAC, including a 27-6 road win against the Tigers last Nov. 16. RMC advanced to the third round of the NCAA Playoffs. H-SC continues to lead the all-time series against the Yellow Jackets, 60-58-11; however, RMC has won 11-straight and 13 of the last 14 games played between the two storied programs in a contest that is considered the Oldest Small School Rivalry in the South. The Garnet & Grey's last win in the series was in 2013, a 28-26 road win in Ashland.

All 10 games can be heard locally on WVHL Radio, Kickin' Country 92.9 FM, and will also be available worldwide on the Internet at wvhl.net or via the TuneIn Radio App.
