ASHLAND, Va. -- Senior quarterback and team captain Carter Sido (Dallas, TX) passed for a game-high 207 yards and one touchdown, adding 77 yards rushing, but Hampden-Sydney College dropped a 42-14 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) football decision on the road at archrival (18/21)Randolph-Macon College on Saturday afternoon in Ashland. The visiting Tigers (7-3, 5-3) trailed 7-0 after one quarter, 21-0 at halftime and 35-7 after three quarters in the 130th edition of "THE GAME". The host Yellow Jackets (9-1, 8-0) were led by quarterback Dante Casciola who rushed for four touchdowns in the oldest small school rivalry in the South. Junior running back Terry Hicks (Clayton, NC) rushed for 32 yards and one touchdown, surpassing 1,000 yards on the season, finishing with 1,020 yards rushing—the 10th-best season rushing total in program history.

"Credit to them on a well-played game," said second-year head coach Vince Luvara. "I want to thank the twenty seniors for everything they gave to this program. They definitely left their mark on Hampden-Sydney football."

RMC, ranked 18th in the AFCA Coaches Poll and 21st in the D3football.com Top 25, led 7-0 after one quarter following Casciola's three-yard touchdown run at 6:35. Trever Luther added the first of his six PAT kicks for the early advantage.

H-SC had forced a turnover on the third play of the game when sophomore cornerback Parks Cromwell (Charlotte, NC) forced a fumble that was recovered by senior safety Markevus Graves-Franklin (Lynchburg), but the ensuing drive stalled on downs. The Tigers had a three-and-out on their second possession, and punted again on their third possession that began late in the opening quarter.

The Yellow Jackets, specifically Casciola, scored two more touchdowns in the second quarter, the first on a seven-yard score at 11:19, and the second on a one-yard score at 3:55 toward their 21-0 lead at halftime. The Garnet & Grey had to punt again in the quarter following the first score of the quarter, before running out of time late in the quarter after the second score.

H-SC turned it over on an interception to start the third quarter and RMC scored again via Casciola on a 13-yard touchdown run at 12:01 for a 28-0 margin.

The Tigers finally got on the scoreboard when Hicks found the end zone on a one-yard touchdown run with 3:46 left in the quarter. Freshman placekicker Davis Dudley (Charlotte, NC) added the first of his two PAT kicks and it was 28-7. The score capped a 19-play, 79-yard drive that took 8:09 and featured a 10-yard completion from Sido to senior wide receiver and team captain Mason Cunningham (Arlington), a 10-yard run by Sido and 15 yards on the ground by Hicks.

The Yellow Jackets answered right back with a four-yard touchdown run by Cameron Chatmon at 2:01 to take a 35-7 advantage into the fourth quarter.

RMC extended its lead to 42-7 when Detric Brown scored on a 13-yard touchdown run with 8:03 remaining.

H-SC added another score late when Sido connected with senior wide receiver Jordan Jackson (Fredericksburg) on a 36-yard touchdown pass at 3:46, completing a 10-play, 75-yard drive. Cunningham had an 11-yard reception on the play before the last score of the contest that provided for the final margin.

Sido passed for his game-high 207 yards (22-39-1) and one touchdown for H-SC with one interception, adding his 77 yards rushing on 19 attempts. Hicks rushed for his 32 yards on 14 attempts and one touchdown, surpassing 1,000 yards on the season for the 10th-best season rushing total (1,020) in program history. Jordan Jackson had a game-high 72 yards receiving on five receptions and one touchdown. Cunningham had 34 yards receiving on five receptions.

Sophomore linebacker Frank Brewer (Charlotte, NC) had nine tackles for the Tigers. Cromwell and sophomore safety Mitch Ladamus (Fort Mill, SC) each had eight tackles, including the forced fumble by Cromwell and a pass breakup by Ladamus. Graves-Franklin finished with seven tackles, along with the fumble recovered. Junior cornerback Cam Jackson (Alexandria) added six tackles, while senior linebacker and team captain Robert Clarke (Atlanta, GA) had five tackles.

Casciola passed for 57 yards (4-6-0) for RMC with no interceptions, adding 66 yards rushing on 10 attempts and the four touchdowns. Chatmon had 99 yards rushing on 17 attempts and one touchdown. Basit Qadri had 32 yards receiving on two receptions. Neftali Reyes had a game-high 11 tackles for the Yellow Jackets.

H-SC continues to narrowly lead the all-time series against RMC, 60-59-11; however, the Yellow Jackets have won 12-straight and 14 of the last 15 games played between the two storied programs.

The Tigers have completed their 2025 campaign with a final record of 7-3 overall, including 5-3 in the ODAC. It's the best record for the program since 2013 (9-3), while equaling the win total of 2014 (7-4).
