2025 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship on Friday evening, March 14, at 4:30 p.m. in the John A. Paulson Center on the campus of New York University in New York, New York. The nationally-ranked Tigers are 23-5 overall, finishing 14-2 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC), and have won 13 of their last 15 games, including an 81-75 home win past Pitt-Bradford in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on March 8 in S. Douglas Fleet Gymnasium at Kirby Field House—making their eighth Sweet 16 appearance in program history. The Bulldogs are 24-4 overall, finishing 14-2 in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), and have won 13 of their last 14 games, including a 95-93 overtime win at No. 13 Tufts in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on March 8 in Medford, Massachusetts. NYU is hosting this weekend's
Sectional (Sweet 16) on Friday and Saturday, March 14-15, and the top-ranked Violets will play Hardin-Simmons (TX) University on Friday, March 14, at 7:30 p.m. The two winners will play on Saturday, March 15, at 7:30 p.m. for a trip to the Final Four in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students, veterans, senior citizens and children; available at the door on Friday beginning at 3:30 p.m.
Head Coach Caleb Kimbrough
H-SC is led by the sixth-year head coach who took over the program on April 4, 2019. The former head coach at Huntingdon (AL) College from 2016-19, Kimbrough is the 19th head coach in the 115-year history of the storied Hampden-Sydney program. He is no stranger to the ODAC, having played four years at Guilford (NC) College and coached six years with the Quakers, and one year at Washington and Lee University. Kimbrough is 106-43 at the College, ranking sixth in program coaching wins, while his current winning percentage (.711) ranks second all-time. He is the back-to-back National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III District 6 Coach of the Year (2022-23, 2023-24), and was the 2022-23 ODAC Men's Basketball Bob Johnson Coach of the Year.

The Cowboys shoot 46% (831-1801) from the field, including 34% (202-594) on three-pointers, and 69% (487-702) at the line. HSU scores 81.1 points, and yields 76.0 points, for a +5.1 scoring margin. ODAC Men's Basketball Kurt Axe Player of the Year, and the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year ... now a three-time All-ODAC honoree after also earning First Team last season (2023-24) and Second Team in 2022-23.
Shane Fernald was also named First Team All-ODAC, his first time earning All-ODAC honors.

Adam Brazil was named to the 2024-25
Bevo Francis Award Top 50 Watch List on Feb. 15. The Clarence "Bevo" Francis Award is presented annually to the player who has had the finest overall season within NCAA Divisions II and III, NAIA, USCAA and NCCAA. Adam had been named to the Top 100 Watch List on January 15. and is the second-straight finalist from the program, along with
Davidson Hubbard '24.

Adam Brazil has taken his game to another level this season ... averaging 18.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists, while shooting 46% (178-388) from the field, including 28% (46-164) on three-pointers, and 85% (108-127) at the line. He has 24 double-figure scoring games, including three 30-point games among 12 20-point games, and scored a season and career-high 34 points vs. Randolph-Macon (11/13).
Picking Up Where He Left Off
Shane Fernald played this season as he finished last season ... at a high level ... averaging 13.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists, while shooting 57% (140-246) from the field. He has 20 double-figure scoring games, including five 20-point games—scoring a season and career-high 23 points at Bridgewater (2/8) and grabbing a season and career-high 12 rebounds vs. Ferrum (1/25).
Impact Transfer
Colin Radcliffe has been an impact transfer. Colin transferred from Division II Mount Olive (NC) and is averaging 9.0 points, while shooting 42% (84-198) from the field, including 41% (49-121) on three-pointers, and 81% (34-42) at the line. He scored a season and career-high 27 points at Swarthmore (PA) (11/9) during his debut with the Tigers.
Career Watch
Adam Brazil is ninth in program history with 1,568 career points in 121 career games, and is now fifth in career assists with 385 and 10th in career steals with 149 … while his 236 career three-pointers is believed to be among the Top Five all-time, as well. Adam is the only Tiger in the 115-year history of the program ranked among the Top 10 in career points, assists, steals and three-pointers.
Russell Turner '92—the current head coach at UC Irvine—is the all-time scoring leader (2,272).

Scheduling Toughness
H-SC played eight opponents this season that have qualified for the NCAA Tournament, posting a record of 7-4 against those schools. The Tigers own two wins vs. Randolph-Macon, and one win each vs. Guilford, Roanoke, Christopher Newport, Mary Washington and Pfeiffer. The losses were to Guilford, Roanoke, John Carroll and Gettysburg. Roanoke and Mary Washington have also advanced to the Sectionals (Sweet 16).
The Team Three-Point Stat
H-SC has made at least one three-point field goal in

100 Wins At H-SC
Caleb Kimbrough earned his 100th win at H-SC with a 75-44 road win at Eastern Mennonite on Feb. 1. Caleb is currently 106-43 overall at the College, including an ODAC record of 59-25. His 106 wins rank sixth all-time at H-SC, while his .711 winning percentage ranks second all-time on the Hill. He is now 76-15 over the past three seasons, including 31-3 in 2023-24 and 22-7 in 2022-23.

Shane is the son of the late Jon Fernald and Cathy Smith and is majoring in English with a minor in rhetoric. Colin is the son of Ian and Sarah Radcliffe and is majoring in history.

Program History
H-SC is competing in its 115th-year of basketball during 2024-25. The Tigers began this season with an overall program record of 1,517-1,096 since beginning in 1908, and currently total
1,540 wins. H-SC has now posted 64 winning seasons, 18 seasons with at least 20 wins, six seasons with at least 25 wins, has won a record 11 ODAC Tournament Championships.
NCAA Tournament History
H-SC is making its 17th NCAA Tournament appearance since 1989, winning at least one game in 14 of the 17 years, while compiling an overall NCAA Tournament record of 27-17. The Tigers advanced to the Final Four in 1999, 2003 and 2024, and to the National Championship in 1999 and 2024. H-SC was National Runner-Up in 2024, falling to Trine (IN) 69-61, as well as in 1999, falling to UW-Platteville 76-75 in double-overtime. The Tigers fell to Gustavus Adolphus (MN) 79-68 in the 2003 National Semifinals. H-SC advanced to the Elite Eight in 1995, 1998, 1999, 2003 and 2024, while reaching the Sweet 16 in 1992, 1994, 1995, 1998, 1999, 2003, 2024 and 2025. The Tigers have hosted 24 NCAA Tournament games since 1992, compiling an impressive record of 19-5.
Three Former Tigers Are Division I Head Coaches
H-SC currently has three former basketball team members and graduates of the College that are serving as NCAA Division I head coaches. Russell Turner '92 is in his 15th year at UC Irvine ... Ryan Odom '96 is in his second season at VCU and his ninth season as a DI head coach (UMBC, Utah State) ... Griff Aldrich '96 is in his seventh year at Longwood. Through March 12, Turner was 316-185 at UCI (27-5 this season) ... Odom was 208-117 overall, including 48-20 at VCU (25-6 this season), 44-25 in two years at USU and 97-60 in five years at UMBC ... Aldrich was 127-100 at Longwood (18-14 this season). Add fifth-year Memphis head football coach Ryan Silverfield '03 (42-21, 2024 Scooter's Coffee Frisco Bowl Champion, 11-2) and the Tigers have four alumni serving as DI head coaches.
