Adam Brazil (Mooresville, NC) has been named to the
2024-25 Bevo Francis Award Top 50 Watch List, as announced today (February 15) by Small College Basketball. The Clarence "Bevo" Francis Award is presented annually to the player who has had the finest overall season within Small College Basketball to include NCAA Divisions II and III, NAIA, USCAA and NCCAA. Adam, a 5-10 guard, leads Division III's fourth-ranked Tigers (20-3) with his 18.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists.
Brazil has started all 23 games while playing 33.1 minutes per game, adding 38 three-point field goals, 40 steals and one block. He is shooting 45% (145-321) from the field, including 29% (38-133) on three-pointers, and 86% (91-106) at the free throw line. Brazil is the team leader in points (419), scoring average, field goals, field goal attempts, three-point attempts, free throws, free throw attempts, free throw percentage, assists and steals. He has scored a career-high 34 points vs. then No. 7 Randolph-Macon (11/13) … equaled his career-high with eight rebounds two times, most recent at Washington and Lee (1/15) … had a season-high eight assists vs. Shenandoah (12/17) … had a season-high four steals two times, most recent at Randolph (1/22) … equaled his career-high with one block at then (RV)Guilford (NC) (1/8) … had a career-high seven (7-11) three-pointers vs. SU (12/17) … and has played a career-high 39 minutes two times, most recent at then (RV)RMC (12/7).
Brazil has posted a team-best 19 double-figure scoring games, including three 30-point games among nine 20-point games, and has led the team in scoring 13 times, steals 11 times, assists 10 times and in rebounding two times. He has previously been named to the Trevor Hudgins Award Top 25 Watch List, the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Division III National Player of the Week one time, to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week two times, the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Offensive Player of the Week four times, and was also named to the All-Tournament Team for both the Hampden-Sydney Tip-Off Tournament (11/22-23) and the Charlie Cobb Classic (12/20-21). Adam is ninth in program history with 1,477 career points in 116 career games, adding 364 career assists (seventh all-time), 146 career steals and 228 career three-pointers, and ranks 32nd nationally in assist/turnover ration (2.42). He is third in the ODAC in both scoring and free throw percentage, and fifth in steals.
Considerations for the Bevo Francis Award include season statistics and individual achievements, awards, personal character and team achievements. This is an incredibly prestigious award, given annually to one player within Small College Basketball. Brazil is the only ODAC player on The Top 50 Watch List, while Jahn Hines of Christopher Newport University is the only other player from Virginia on the list.
