HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College, ranked No. 7 in the D3hoops.com Top 25, welcomes the University of Lynchburg in a 2025 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men's Basketball Tournament Quarterfinal on Wednesday night, February 26, at 7 p.m. in S. Douglas Fleet Gymnasium at Kirby Field House. The nationally-ranked Tigers are 21-4 overall, finishing 14-2 in the ODAC, after a 95-78 conference home win past Eastern Mennonite University on Feb. 22 in Fleet Gym. The Hornets are 13-12 overall, finishing 7-9 in the ODAC, after a 75-66 home loss in overtime to Virginia Wesleyan University on Feb. 22 in Lynchburg. The game can be heard locally on WVHL Radio, Kickin' Country 92.9 FM, and will also be available worldwide on the Internet at wvhl.net or via the TuneIn Radio App, while available to watch on the Tiger Sports Network live video stream at hscathletics.com. Tickets are $10 for adults, free for H-SC and Lynchburg students with their college IDs, and also free for high school students and younger ... and can be purchased at the door beginning at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

Head Coach Caleb Kimbrough
H-SC is led by the sixth-year head coach who took over the program on April 4, 2019. The former head coach at Huntingdon (AL) College from 2016-19, Kimbrough is the 19th head coach in the 115-year history of the storied Hampden-Sydney program. He is no stranger to the ODAC, having played four years at Guilford (NC) College and coached six years with the Quakers, and one year at Washington and Lee University. Kimbrough is 104-42 at the College, ranking sixth in program coaching wins, while his current winning percentage (.712) ranks second all-time. He is the back-to-back National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III District 6 Coach of the Year (2022-23, 2023-24), and was the 2022-23 ODAC Men's Basketball Bob Johnson Coach of the Year.

H-SC has been led by All-American fifth-year guard and third-year team captain Adam Brazil (Mooresville, NC), who is averaging 18.0 points (40 3FGs, 87% FTs), 3.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists. Junior forward and team captain Shane Fernald (Charlotte, NC) averages 13.5 points (56% FGs), 7.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists, while junior transfer guard and team captain Colin Radcliffe (Richlands, NC) adds 9.2 points (45 3FGs-42%) and 3.0 rebounds. Other top contributors include freshman guard Travis Stickney (Mount Pleasant, SC) (7.8 points, 3.6 rebounds), senior guard Ayman McGowan (Memphis, TN) (7.2 points, 40 3FGs-42%), senior guard Nick Shryock (Davidson, NC) (6.7 points, 5.8 rebounds), junior transfer guard Hamilton Campbell (Wytheville) (6.5 points, 3.1 rebounds) and freshman forward John Campbell (High Point, NC) (5.2 points, 68% FGs). H-SC shoots 48% (728-1533) from the field, including 33% (190-572) on three-point field goals, and 71% (368-519) at the free throw line. The Tigers are scoring 80.6 points, and yielding 69.1 points, for a +11.5 scoring margin.

Scouting Lynchburg
Lynchburg is coached by 17th-year head coach Hilliary Scott and has been led by sophomore guard Michael Gray (11.9 points, 46 3FGs), junior guard Piercen Young (11.2 points, 25 3FGs, 5.2 rebounds) and freshman forward Jamarcus Brown (10.9 points, 55% FGs, 5.6 rebounds). The Hornets shoot 44% (676-1548) from the field, including 31% (174-565) on three-pointers, and 61% (313-512) at the line. Lynchburg scores 73.6 points, and yields 74.8 points, for a -1.2 scoring margin.

Series History
H-SC
and Lynchburg are playing for the 95th time since formation of the ODAC for the 1976-77 season. The Tigers lead the series at 70-24, including four-straight wins and five wins in the last six games between the two schools. H-SC won 78-67 on January 4 in Lynchburg, and also won 81-61 in the only contest played last season on Jan. 24, 2024 in Fleet Gym.

is ninth in program history with 1,509 career points in 118 career games, and is seventh in career assists with 371. He adds 146 career steals (11th all-time) and 230 career three-pointers. Russell Turner '92—the current head coach at UC Irvine—is the all-time scoring leader (2,272).

Adam Brazil
was named to the 2024-25 Trevor Hudgins Award Top 25 Watch List on Feb. 1. The Trevor Hudgins Award is presented annually to the senior who has had the finest overall four-year career within Small College Basketball.


Bevo Francis Award Top 50 Watch List
Adam Brazil
was named to the 2024-25 Bevo Francis Award Top 50 Watch List on Feb. 15. The Clarence "Bevo" Francis Award is presented annually to the player who has had the finest overall season within NCAA Divisions II and III, NAIA, USCAA and NCCAA. Adam had been named to the Top 100 Watch List on Jan. 15. and is the second-straight finalist from the program, along with Davidson Hubbard '24.

***2024-25 DIII Men's Hoops MVP Voting***
Vote once daily for Adam Brazil in the online D3 Data Division III MVP Voting. Adam is among 20 candidates for this first-time honor with voting available through March 17. The field was narrowed to 20 players using a number of empirical measures including multiple advanced player statistics and team performance. The top five players with the most points will be announced when voting closes and ultimately the Men's Hoops MVP will be crowned.


2024-25 Team Captains
Leading the Tigers are fifth-year Adam Brazil, along with juniors Shane Fernald and Colin Radcliffe. Brazil is serving in the leadership role for his third season, while Fernald and Radcliffe are each first-year captains. Adam is the son of Mark and Kristen Brazil and is majoring in English with minors in leadership in the public interest and rhetoric. Shane is the son of the late Jon Fernald and Cathy Smith and is majoring in English with a minor in rhetoric. Colin is the son of Ian and Sarah Radcliffe and is majoring in history.

2024-25 Coaching Staff
Coach Kimbrough is aided again this season by Bryson Gibson, promoted to associate head coach in May, while also in his sixth year with the program, third-year assistant coach Carson Long, along with first-year assistant coach Trevor Loscombe.

The Team Three-Point Stat
H-SC
has made at least one three-point field goal in 518 consecutive games, dating back to a 2005 home game vs. Emory & Henry (12/3, 0-1 3FGA). Ironically, the Tigers won that high-scoring contest 130-99 without making a three-pointer.

is competing in its 115th-year of basketball during 2024-25. The Tigers began this season with an overall program record of 1,517-1,096 since beginning in 1908, and currently total 1,538 wins. H-SC has posted 63 winning seasons, 17 seasons with at least 20 wins, six seasons with at least 25 wins, has won a record 11 ODAC Tournament Championships and has made 16 NCAA Tournament appearances.

Three Former Tigers Are Division I Head Coaches
H-SC currently has three former basketball team members and graduates of the College that are serving as NCAA Division I head coaches. Russell Turner '92 is in his 15th year at UC Irvine ... Ryan Odom '96 is in his second season at VCU and his ninth season as a DI head coach (UMBC, Utah State) ... Griff Aldrich '96 is in his seventh year at Longwood. Through Feb. 24, Turner was 312-185 at UCI (23-5 this season) ... Odom was 205-116 overall, including 45-19 at VCU (22-5  this season), 44-25 in two years at USU and 97-60 in five years at UMBC ... Aldrich was 126-98 at Longwood (17-12 this season). Add fifth-year Memphis head football coach Ryan Silverfield '03 (42-21, 2024 Scooter's Coffee Frisco Bowl Champion, 11-2) and the Tigers have four alumni serving as DI head coaches.

A win in the ODAC Tournament Quarterfinals would advance H-SC to play either #3 Seed Roanoke College or #6 Seed Ferrum College in the semifinals on Saturday, March 1, at 4:30 p.m. at the Salem Civic Center in Salem. The championship will be played on Sunday, March 2, at 2 p.m.
