Adam Brazil Named To 2024-25 Trevor Hudgins Award Top 25 Watch List

2024-25 TREVOR HUDGINS AWARD TOP 25 WATCH LIST (PDF, February 1, 2025)

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College All-American fifth-year guard and third-year team captain Adam Brazil (Mooresville, NC) has been named to the 2024-25 Trevor Hudgins Award Top 25 Watch List, as announced today (February 1) by Small College Basketball. The Trevor Hudgins Award is presented annually to the senior who has had the finest overall four-year career within Small College Basketball. Adam, a 5-10 guard, leads Division III's eighth-ranked Tigers (16-3) with his 19.9 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists.

Brazil has started all 19 games while playing 33.4 minutes per game, adding 37 three-point field goals, 36 steals and one block. He is shooting 47% (129-273) from the field, including 32% (37-115) on three-pointers, and 86% (84-98) at the free throw line. Brazil is the team leader in points (379), scoring average, field goals, field goal attempts, three-pointers, three-point attempts, free throws, free throw attempts, free throw percentage and steals. He has scored a career-high 34 points vs. then No. 7 Randolph-Macon (11/13) … equaled his career-high with eight rebounds two times, most recent at Washington and Lee (1/15) … had a season-high eight assists vs. Shenandoah (12/17) … had a season-high four steals two times, most recent at Randolph (1/22) … equaled his career-high with one block at then (RV)Guilford (NC) (1/8) … had a career-high seven three-pointers vs. SU (12/17) … and has played a career-high 39 minutes two times, most recent at then (RV)RMC (12/7).

Brazil has posted a team-best 17 double-figure scoring games, including three 30-point games among nine 20-point games, and has led the team in scoring 13 times. He has previously been named the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Division III National Player of the Week one time, to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week two times, the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Offensive Player of the Week four times, and was also named to the All-Tournament Team for both the Hampden-Sydney Tip-Off Tournament (11/22-23) and the Charlie Cobb Classic (12/20-21). Adam is 12th in program history with 1,437 career points in 112 career games, adding 347 career assists (seventh all-time), 142 career steals and 227 career three-pointers, and ranks 41st nationally in points, while second in the ODAC in both scoring and steals (1.9), and third in free throw percentage.

Considerations for the Trevor Hudgins Award include overall career statistics and achievements, team achievements, awards, and personal character. The player must have played his entire career at the small college level. This will be the highest award given to a four-year player within Small College Basketball. Brazil is the only ODAC player on The Top 25 Watch List, while Jahn Hines of Christopher Newport University is the only other player from Virginia on the list.
