HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College, ranked No. 4 in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25, plays on the road at (RV)Roanoke College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action on Saturday afternoon, February 15, at 2 p.m. in Salem. The nationally-ranked Tigers are 20-3 overall, 13-1 in the ODAC, following a 78-71 conference home win past Guilford (NC) College on Feb. 12 in S. Douglas Fleet Gymnasium at Kirby Field House—their 10th-straight win and 12th win in the last 13 games. The Maroons are 18-4 overall, 12-2 in the ODAC, after an 84-57 road win at Washington and Lee University on Feb. 13 in Lexington—their fourth-straight win and 10th win in the last 11 games. The game can be heard locally on WVHL Radio, Kickin' Country 92.9 FM, and will also be available worldwide on the Internet at wvhl.net or via the TuneIn Radio App, while available to watch on the ODAC Sports Network.

Head Coach Caleb Kimbrough
H-SC is led by the sixth-year head coach who took over the program on April 4, 2019. The former head coach at Huntingdon (AL) College from 2016-19, Kimbrough is the 19th head coach in the 115-year history of the storied Hampden-Sydney program. He is no stranger to the ODAC, having played four years at Guilford (NC) College and coached six years with the Quakers, and one year at Washington and Lee University. Kimbrough is the back-to-back National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III District 6 Coach of the Year (2022-23, 2023-24), and was the 2022-23 ODAC Men's Basketball Bob Johnson Coach of the Year.

H-SC has been led by All-American fifth-year guard and third-year team captain Adam Brazil (Mooresville, NC), who is averaging 18.2 points (38 3FGs, 86% FTs), 3.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists. Junior forward and team captain Shane Fernald (Charlotte, NC) averages 13.5 points (57% FGs), 7.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists, while junior transfer guard and team captain Colin Radcliffe (Richlands, NC) adds 9.8 points (44 3FGs-44%) and 3.0 rebounds. Other top contributors include freshman guard Travis Stickney (Mount Pleasant, SC) (7.7 points, 3.5 rebounds), senior guard Nick Shryock (Davidson, NC) (6.8 points, 5.9 rebounds), junior transfer guard Hamilton Campbell (Wytheville) (6.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists), senior guard Ayman McGowan (Memphis, TN) (6.3 points, 30 3FGs) and freshman forward John Campbell (High Point, NC) (5.5 points, 68% FGs, 3.0 rebounds). H-SC shoots 48% (665-1397) from the field, including 34% (174-515) on three-point field goals, and 72% (343-479) at the free throw line. The Tigers are scoring 80.3 points, and yielding 68.2 points, for a +12.1 scoring margin.

RC is coached by ninth year head coach Clay Nunley and has been led by senior guard Joshua McClary (17.1 points, 38 3FGs, 4.6 assists), junior guard Marcus Morgan (12.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists) and sophomore guard Jackson Bell (11.8 points, 57% FGs, 33 3FGs). The Maroons shoot 50% (653-1306) from the field, including 39% (157-407) on three-pointers, and 68% (370-542) at the line. RC is scoring 83.3 points, and yielding 65.9 points, for a +17.4 scoring margin.

Series History
H-SC and RC are playing for the 96th time as ODAC opponents since the Maroons became basketball members for the 1980-81 season. The Tigers lead the closely-contested series at 50-45, including four-straight wins, most recently an 85-80 home win earlier this season on December 4, 2024 in Fleet Gym. H-SC took a 57-51 road win in its last visit to Salem on January 28, 2023.

was named to the 2024-25 Trevor Hudgins Award Top 25 Watch List on Feb. 1. The Trevor Hudgins Award is presented annually to the senior who has had the finest overall four-year career within Small College Basketball.


Bevo Francis Award Top 100 Watch List
Adam Brazil
was named to the 2024-25 Bevo Francis Award Top 100 Watch List on Jan. 15. The Clarence "Bevo" Francis Award is presented annually to the player who has had the finest overall season within NCAA Divisions II and III, NAIA, USCAA and NCCAA. Adam is the second-straight finalist from the program, as Davidson Hubbard '24 made the 2023-24 Watch List.

Adam Brazil
is now ninth in program history with 1,477 career points in 116 career games, and is seventh in career assists with 364. He adds 146 career steals and 228 career three-pointers. Russell Turner '92—the current head coach at UC Irvine—is the all-time scoring leader (2,272).

ranks 11th nationally in winning percentage (87.0), 29th in scoring margin (12.1), 32nd in assist/turnover ratio (1.40), 34th in field goal percentage (47.6) and 43rd in rebound margin (6.5). Adam Brazil ranks 32nd in assist/turnover ration (2.42), and Shane Fernald ranks 39th in field goal percentage (57.1).

100 Wins At H-SC
Caleb Kimbrough
earned his 100th win at H-SC with the 75-44 road win at Eastern Mennonite on Feb. 1. Caleb is currently 103-41 overall at the College, including an ODAC record of 55-24. His 103 wins rank sixth all-time at H-SC, while his .715 winning percentage ranks second all-time on the Hill. He is now 73-13 over the past three seasons, including 31-3 in 2023-24 and 22-7 in 2022-23.


2024-25 Team Captains
Leading the Tigers are fifth-year Adam Brazil, along with juniors Shane Fernald and Colin Radcliffe. Brazil is serving in the leadership role for his third season, while Fernald and Radcliffe are each first-year captains. Adam is the son of Mark and Kristen Brazil and is majoring in English with minors in leadership in the public interest and rhetoric. Shane is the son of the late Jon Fernald and Cathy Smith and is majoring in English with a minor in rhetoric. Colin is the son of Ian and Sarah Radcliffe and is majoring in history.

2024-25 Coaching Staff
Coach Kimbrough is aided again this season by Bryson Gibson, promoted to associate head coach in May, while also in his sixth year with the program, third-year assistant coach Carson Long, along with first-year assistant coach Trevor Loscombe.

The Team Three-Point Stat
H-SC
has made at least one three-point field goal in 516 consecutive games, dating back to a 2005 home game vs. Emory & Henry (12/3, 0-1 3FGA). Ironically, the Tigers won that high-scoring contest 130-99 without making a three-pointer.

Program History
H-SC
is competing in its 115th-year of basketball during 2024-25. The Tigers began this season with an overall program record of 1,517-1,096 since beginning in 1908, and currently total 1,537 wins. H-SC has posted 63 winning seasons, 17 seasons with at least 20 wins, six seasons with at least 25 wins, has won a record 11 ODAC Tournament Championships and has made 16 NCAA Tournament appearances.

Three Former Tigers Are Division I Head Coaches
H-SC currently has three former basketball team members and graduates of the College that are serving as NCAA Division I head coaches. Russell Turner '92 is in his 15th year at UC Irvine ... Ryan Odom '96 is in his second season at VCU and his ninth season as a DI head coach (UMBC, Utah State) ... Griff Aldrich '96 is in his seventh year at Longwood. Through Feb. 13, Turner was 310-184 at UCI (21-4 this season) ... Odom was 203-116 overall, including 44-19 at VCU (20-5  this season), 44-25 in two years at USU and 97-60 in five years at UMBC ... Aldrich was 125-96 at Longwood (16-10 this season). Add fifth-year Memphis head football coach Ryan Silverfield '03 (42-21, 2024 Scooter's Coffee Frisco Bowl Champion, 11-2) and the Tigers have four alumni serving as DI head coaches.

H-SC returns home to welcome ODAC member Eastern Mennonite University in the regular season finale on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 22, at 2 p.m. in Fleet Gym for Senior Day. The Tigers have already secured a Top Four finish during the ODAC regular season, and will host an ODAC Tournament Quarterfinal contest on Wednesday night, Feb. 26, at 7 p.m. in Fleet Gym.
