Hampden-Sydney Announces 2026-27 Basketball Schedule

10/6/2026 11:45:00 AM

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College eighth-year head basketball coach Caleb Kimbrough has announced his program's upcoming 2026-27 Schedule that features 13 home games, including two home tournament/classic events, two road tournament/classic events, and once-again includes 16 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) games among the 25 regular season contests. The Tigers finished 17-10 a year ago, missing the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time in four years, and Coach Kimbrough will challenge his team with difficult non-conference opponents to ensure the Garnet & Grey are back in postseason action this year.

"We are really excited about this team," said Kimbrough. "There's a genuine edge and commitment to how these guys are working. We put together a challenging non-conference slate on purpose to push us early and get us battle-ready for ODAC play. We aren't expecting anything to be handed to us … we're focused on putting our heads down, embracing the adversity, and earning everything."

H-SC opens on the road with its participation in the non-conference Peace Classic hosted by William Peace University on November 6-7 in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Tigers will play host William Peace to open the season on Friday, Nov. 6, at 6 p.m., then will play North Carolina Wesleyan University on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 6 p.m. NCWU (21-7) advanced to the first round of the NCAA Tournament last March as the USA South Conference Tournament Champions.

The Garnet & Grey begins ODAC competition in game three with a road contest at archrival Randolph-Macon College on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 7 p.m. in Ashland. RMC (27-4) advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament as the ODAC Tournament Runners-Up.

H-SC will play its first home games on the Tony Shaver Court in Diaz Arena at Kirby Sports Center when hosting the non-conference Charlie Cobb Classic on Nov. 21-22. The Tigers will play Johnson & Wales (RI) University on Saturday, Nov. 21, at 5:30 p.m., and then either Pfeiffer (NC) University or Sewanee (TN) on Sunday, Nov. 22, at either 2:00 p.m. or 4:30 p.m.

The Garnet & Grey returns to ODAC competition with a pair of early December road games, including at Guilford College on Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 7 p.m. in Greensboro, North Carolina, and at Averett University on Saturday, Dec. 5, at 2 p.m. in Danville.

Following a break for fall semester exams, H-SC will host the non-conference H-SC Holiday Classic presented by Elder, Friedman & Allen on Dec. 20-21 in Diaz Arena. The Tigers will play Salisbury (MD) University on Sunday, Dec. 20, at 4:30 p.m., and then either Belhaven (MS) University or the University of Mount Union (OH) on Monday, Dec. 21, at either 1 p.m. or 3:30 p.m. Belhaven (16-13) advanced to the first round of the NCAA Tournament as the Collegiate Conference of the South Tournament Champions. Mount Union (23-4) also advanced to the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

H-SC closes the calendar year with a trip to the Rocky Mountains to participate in the non-conference Colorado College Classic hosted by Colorado College on Dec. 29-30 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The Tigers will play Hardin-Simmons (TX) University on Tuesday, Dec. 29, at 5 p.m., and then Calvin (MI) University on Tuesday, Dec. 30, at 5 p.m. Hardin-Simmons (17-10) was the American Southwest Conference Tournament Runners-Up last year.
