Adam Brazil Named To 2024-25 Bevo Francis Award Top 100 Watch List

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College All-American fifth-year guard and third-year team captain Adam Brazil (Mooresville, NC) has been named to the 2024-25 Bevo Francis Award Top 100 Watch List, as announced today (January 15) by Small College Basketball. The Clarence "Bevo" Francis Award is presented annually to the player who has had the finest overall season within Small College Basketball to include NCAA Divisions II and III, NAIA, USCAA and NCCAA. Adam, a 5-10 guard, leads Division III's tenth-ranked Tigers (11-3) with his 21.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists.

Brazil has started all 14 games while playing 33.9 minutes per game, adding 29 three-point field goals, 23 steals and one block. He is shooting 48% (100-207) from the field, including 34% (29-86) on three-pointers, and 87% (65-75) at the free throw line. Brazil is the team leader in points (294), scoring average, field goals, field goal attempts, three-pointers, three-point attempts, free throws, free throw attempts, free throw percentage and steals. He has scored a career-high 34 points vs. then No. 7 Randolph-Macon (11/13) … equaled his career-high with eight rebounds vs. RMC (11/13) … had a season-high eight assists vs. Shenandoah (12/17) … had a season-high four steals vs. John Carroll (OH) (12/20) … equaled his career-high with one block at then (RV)Guilford (NC) (1/8) … had a career-high seven three-pointers vs. SU (12/17) … and has played a career-high 39 minutes two times, most recent at then (RV)RMC (12/7).

Brazil has posted a team-best 12 double-figure scoring games, including three 30-point games among eight 20-point games, and has led the team in scoring 10 times, steals seven times, assists six times and in rebounding one time. He has previously been named the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Division III National Player of the Week one time, to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week two times, the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Offensive Player of the Week four times, and was also named to the All-Tournament Team for both the Hampden-Sydney Tip-Off Tournament (11/22-23) and the Charlie Cobb Classic (12/20-21). Adam is 13th in program history with 1,352 career points in 107 career games, adding 332 career assists (10th all-time), 129 career steals and 219 career three-pointers, and ranks 29th nationally in points, 43rd in scoring, 44th in free throws and 49th in field goals—leading the ODAC in scoring and second in free throw percentage.

Considerations for the Bevo Francis Award include season statistics and individual achievements, awards, personal character and team achievements. This is an incredibly prestigious award, given annually to one player within Small College Basketball. Brazil is the only ODAC player on The Top 100 Watch List, while Jahn Hines of Christopher Newport University is the only other player from Virginia on the list.
