Head Coach Caleb Kimbrough
H-SC is led by the seventh-year head coach who took over the program on April 4, 2019. The former head coach at Huntingdon (AL) College from 2016-19, Kimbrough is the 19th head coach in the 116-year history of the storied Hampden-Sydney program. He is no stranger to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC), having played four years at Guilford (NC) College and coached six years with the Quakers, and one year at Washington and Lee University. Kimbrough is 112-47 at the College, ranking sixth in program coaching wins, while his current winning percentage (.704) ranks second all-time. He is a two-time National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III District 6 Coach of the Year (2022-23, 2023-24), was the 2022-23 ODAC Men's Basketball Bob Johnson Coach of the Year and the 2024-25 D3hoops.com Region 6 Coach of the Year.

Peter Moye (Charlotte, NC) (13.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, 18 3FGs, 91% FTs),

MC is 9-2 following a 76-63 home win past East Texas Baptist on Dec. 6 in Maryville, Tennessee. The Scots are coached by seventh-year head coach Raul Placeres and have been led by senior forward Chase Morgan (21.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 57% FGs), senior guard Jackson Garner (16.5 points, 2.3 rebounds, 37 3FGs) and junior forward Matt Schneider (13.7 points, 7.9 rebounds). MC shoots 45% (320-707) from the field, including 37% (98-267) on three-pointers, and 73% (154-212) at the line. The Scots average 81.1 points, and yield 71.8 points, for a +9.3 scoring margin.
Series History (Maryville)
H-SC and MC are playing for the 22nd time since the 1980-81 season. The Scots lead the series at 14-7, including three-straight and seven wins in the last eight games between the two schools. MC took an 85-84 road win in the most recent contest on Dec. 19, 2021, while the Tigers last won 92-77 at home on February 13, 1988.

The Eagles are coached by 18th-year head coach Jason Zimmerman and have been led by senior guard Ben Pearce (23.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, 6.9 assists, 23 3FGs), senior guard/forward Jair Knight (18.4 points, 6.6 rebounds), freshman forward Ethan Fauss (16.0 points, 6.6 rebounds) and sophomore forward Mario Awasum (11.4 points, 8.6 rebounds). H-SC and EU are playing for just the fourth time since the 2016-17 season. The Tigers lead the young series at 2-1, including two-straight wins. H-SC took a
63-59 home win in the most recent contest on March 3, 2023 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, and the Tigers had a 90-85 home win on Dec. 2, 2017. The Eagles won the first game played between the two schools, 87-64, on Dec. 31, 2016 in Atlanta.

Travis Stickney was named the
ODAC Offensive Player of the Week for games played Dec. 15-21, averaging 20.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists, adding three steals to lead the 16th-ranked Tigers to a split of two games during the H-SC Holiday Classic presented by Elder, Friedman & Allen ... posting a career-high and game-high 30 points during a 91-90 setback to 11th-ranked Redlands (CA) on Dec. 20, adding six rebounds, along with a career-high and game-high seven assists, and one steal—scoring 21 second-half points, including the last seven among 15 of the team's final 20 points overall ... following 11 points and a career-high 10 rebounds during an 86-67 win past Wilson (PA) on Dec. 19, adding two steals and one assist ... Peter Moye has taken his game to another level this season ... averaging 13.6 points and 4.2 rebounds, while shooting 49% (42-85) from the field, including 40% (18-45) on three-point field goals, and 91% (20-22) at the free throw line. He has scored in double-figures in eight of nine games, including five-straight with a career-high 21 points at Eastern Mennonite (12/6)—making a career-high five three-pointers. Moye also grabbed a career-high of eight rebounds vs. Wilson (12/19). Peter played in 23 games last season, averaging 4.5 points and 1.8 rebounds.
Mr. Consistency
Travis Stickney has been steady and consistent in his second year starting—he has started all 38 games of his collegiate career, averaging 13.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists, while shooting 44% (44-99) from the field, including 32% (13-41) on three-point field goals, and 79% (19-24) at the free throw line. He has six double-figure scoring games, including four-straight with a career-high 30 points vs. (11)Redlands (12/20), and also has career-highs of 10 rebounds vs. Wilson (12/19), seven assists vs. (11)Redlands (12/20) and seven steals vs. (7)UW-La Crosse (11/7). Travis started all 29 games last season, averaging 7.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists.

Santana Lynch has also taken his game to the next level this season ... averaging 12.3 points and 7.6 rebounds, while shooting 65% (42-65) from the field, including 30% (3-10) on three-point field goals, and 73% (24-33) at the free throw line. He has eight double-figure scoring games, including three-straight with a career-high 19 points vs. Pfeiffer (11/23). Lynch has grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds on two occasions, most recent vs. Wilson (12/19). Santana was limited to four games early last season before a season-ending injury in December.

Tugg Bizzelle has taken his game to the next level this season, as well ... averaging 9.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists, while shooting 44% (32-73) from the field, including 50% (9-18) on three-point field goals, and 54% (13-24) at the free throw line. He has three double-figure scoring games, including a career-high 19 points at Salisbury (11/12)—making a career-high five three-pointers. Bizzelle also grabbed a career-high eight rebounds at Salisbury (11/12), and has equaled his season-high with four assists on three occasions, most recent at (2)Randolph-Macon (12/3). Tugg started three of 29 games last season, averaging 3.1 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists.

Alex Cannon has the height not typically found on Division III rosters, and he is taking further advantage this season as evidenced by his 19 blocks ... averaging 2.1 blocks per game that ranks 28th nationally. He has started the last six-straight games, and is averaging career-highs of 5.8 points and 5.9 rebounds, while shooting 69% (24-35) from the field. He has posted career-highs of 10 points vs. (11)Redlands (12/20) and 11 rebounds vs. Pfeiffer (11/23), along with a season-high four blocks on two occasions, most recent vs. (11)Redlands (12/20).

Leading the Tigers is senior guard
Grayson Schultz (Moseley), who is a second-year team member serving in the leadership role for the first time. He was a team manager during his first two years at the College, before joining the team for 2024-25. Grayson is the son of Glenn and Paige Schultz and is majoring in economics and business at the College.
Program History
H-SC is competing in its 116th-year of basketball during 2025-26. The Tigers have an overall program record of
1,546-1,105 since beginning in 1908. H-SC has posted 64 winning seasons, 18 seasons with at least 20 wins, six seasons with at least 25 wins, has won a record 11 ODAC Tournament Championships.
NCAA Tournament History
H-SC has made
17 NCAA Tournament appearances since 1989, winning at least one game in 14 of the 17 years, while compiling an overall NCAA Tournament record of 27-18. The Tigers advanced to the Final Four in 1999, 2003 and 2024, and to the National Championship in 1999 and 2024. H-SC was National Runner-Up in 2024, falling to Trine (IN) 69-61, as well as in 1999, falling to UW-Platteville 76-75 in double-overtime. The Tigers fell to Gustavus Adolphus (MN) 79-68 in the 2003 National Semifinals. H-SC advanced to the Elite Eight in 1995, 1998, 1999, 2003 and 2024, while reaching the Sweet 16 in 1992, 1994, 1995, 1998, 1999, 2003, 2024 and 2025. The Tigers have hosted 24 NCAA Tournament games since 1992, compiling an impressive record of 19-5.
Former Tigers Now Division I Head Coaches
H-SC currently has two former basketball team members and graduates of the College that are serving as NCAA Division I head coaches.
Russell Turner '92 is in his 16th year at UC Irvine and
Ryan Odom '96 is in his first season at Virginia and his 10th season as a DI head coach (UMBC, Utah State, VCU). Through Dec. 25, Turner was 330-192 at UCI (9-5 this season) and Odom was 212-118 overall, including 11-1 this season at (21/21)UVA, 52-21 in two years at VCU, 44-25 in two years at USU and 97-60 in five years at UMBC.Â
Griff Aldrich '96 is in his first season as the associate head coach at UVA after serving as head coach at Longwood the past seven seasons where he was 127-100 overall. Additionally,
Ryan Silverfield '03 was named the 35th head football coach at Arkansas on November 30. Silverfield was 50-25 in six years at Memphis, including 8-4 this season.
