Hampden-Sydney Ranked No. 16 In This Week's D3hoops.com Top 25

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College is ranked No. 16 nationally in this week's D3hoops.com Top 25. The Tigers earned 224 points in the week four poll of December 15, and dropped one spot from last week's No. 15 national ranking. The Garnet & Grey are 5-2 overall, including 1-1 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC), the only setbacks to current No. 2 Randolph-Macon (85-50) on Dec. 3 in Ashland and to current No. 3 UW-La Crosse (77-75 OT) on November 7 at the TowneBank Tipoff Tournament in Virginia Beach.

The Top 10 includes defending NCAA Division III National Champion Trinity (CT) College (8-0) at No. 1 with 621 points and 24 first-place votes, followed by RMC (6-0) at No. 2 and with the other first-place vote, along with UW-La Crosse (7-0) at No. 3, Washington (MO) University (8-0) at No. 4, the University of Mary Washington (8-0) at No. 5, the University of Chicago (7-1) at No. 6, Emory (GA) University (5-1) at No. 7, Calvin (MI) University (6-1) at No. 8, the University of Mount Union (OH) (9-0) at No. 9 and Montclair State (NJ) University (9-0) at No. 10. ODAC members Virginia Wesleyan University (7-1) and Roanoke College (5-2) are at No. 12 and No. 13, respectively.

H-SC has not played since Dec. 6 while idle for recent fall semester examinations, and will host the Hampden-Sydney Holiday Classic presented by Elder, Friedman & Allen this weekend, Dec. 19-20, on the new Tony Shaver Court in Diaz Arena at the renovated Kirby Field House. The Tigers will play Wilson (PA) on Friday, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m., before playing (11)Redlands (CA) on Saturday, Dec. 20, at 3:30 p.m. (13)Roanoke is also participating in the event, and plays (11)Redlands on Friday at 5 p.m., and Wilson on Saturday at 1 p.m.
