Travis Stickney & Santana Lynch Named ODAC Men's Basketball Offensive & Defensive Players Of The Week

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College sophomore guard Travis Stickney (Mount Pleasant, SC) has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week, and sophomore guard Santana Lynch (Dallas, TX) has been named the ODAC Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week, for games played December 15-21. Travis averaged 20.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists, adding three steals to lead the 16th-ranked Tigers to a split of two games during the H-SC Holiday Classic presented by Elder, Friedman & Allen on Dec. 19-20 on the new Tony Shaver Court in Diaz Arena at the renovated Kirby Field House, while Santana averaged a double-double of 12.0 points and 10.0 rebounds, adding four assists, two steals and one block.

Travis Stickney scored a career-high and game-high 30 points during a 91-90 setback to 11th-ranked Redlands (CA) on Dec. 20, adding six rebounds, along with a career-high and game-high seven assists, and one steal—scoring 21 second-half points, including the last seven among 15 of the team's final 20 points overall. His three-point field goal with 27.8-seconds remaining had given H-SC a 90-89 lead. Stickney contributed 11 points and a career-high 10 rebounds during an 86-67 win past Wilson (PA) on Dec. 19, adding two steals and one assist, and was named to the All-Classic Team for his impressive two-game efforts. Through nine games, Travis is averaging 13.3 points and 5.3 rebounds, along with a team-best 3.2 assists and 34.0 minutes, adding a team-best 13 steals as well as one block, while shooting 44% (44-99) on field goals, including 32% (13-41) on three-pointers, and 79% (19-24) at the free throw line. He is third in the ODAC in minutes, eighth in free throw percentage, tied for eighth in assists, ninth in assist/turnover ratio (1.2), tied for 12th in steals, 13th in scoring and tied for 18th in rebounding. Stickney had previously been named the ODAC Defensive Player of the Week for season-opening games played November 7-9.

Santana Lynch had 14 points (3-3 FGs, 2-2 3FGs, 6-6 FTs) and eight rebounds off the bench against Redlands, scoring 12 first-half points, adding two assists, one steal and one block. Lynch contributed 10 points (5-7 FGs) and equaled his career-high with a game-high 12 rebounds off the bench against Wilson, adding two assists and one steal. Through nine games, Santana is averaging 12.3 points, a team-best 7.6 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 25.4 minutes, adding seven steals and one block, while shooting a team-best 65% (42-65) on field goals, including 30% (3-10) on three-pointers, and 73% (24-33) at the line. He is third in the ODAC in rebounding and field goal percentage, and 18th in scoring and free throw percentage.

H-SC is idle this week for the Christmas Holiday before returning to action at the Emory Holiday Classic on Dec. 29-30 at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. The Tigers will play 25th-ranked Maryville (TN) College on Monday, Dec. 29, at 2 p.m., before playing seventh-ranked Emory on Tuesday, Dec. 30, at 4 p.m.
