HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College sophomore wide receiver Ethan Dowdy (Powhatan) has been named to the 2024 All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Football First Team, one of eight Tigers earning All-ODAC honors in voting among the conference head coaches. Dowdy is the only first team selection, while junior linebacker and team captain Robert Clarke (Atlanta, GA) and redshirt-freshman wide receiver Manning Lasso (Raleigh, NC) were each named to the All-ODAC Second Team.

Earning Third Team All-Large honors were senior wide receiver Austin Fernandez (Warrenton), sophomore running back Terry Hicks (Clayton, NC), senior tight end Sutton Lasso (Raleigh, NC), junior quarterback and team captain Carter Sido (Dallas, TX) and senior linebacker/defensive lineman and team captain Brendan Wallace (Virginia Beach).

Ethan Dowdy started the first nine games before a late season injury and led the team with 54 receptions for 723 receiving yards and nine touchdowns, including a career-high four touchdowns vs. Centre (KY) (9/21). He had three 100-yard receiving games, including a career-high 127 yards at Ferrum (10/19), and led the ODAC in receiving touchdowns (47th in Division III) and receiving yards per game (80.3), while second in receiving yards and receptions per game (6.0), third in receptions, fourth in total touchdowns (10) and seventh in all-purpose yards per game (107.0). Ethan did a little bit of everything for the Garnet & Grey this fall: accounting for 24 passing yards (1-1-0) and one touchdown ... 27 rushing yards on seven attempts and one touchdown ... 110 punt return yards on eight returns (13.8), including a long of 65 yards ... and 103 kick return yards on six returns (17.2), including a long of 23 yards.

Robert Clarke started the first eight games before a late season injury and was second on the team with 64 total tackles, including 28 solo, 4.5 tackles for loss, one sack, two pass breakups and two fumbles recovered. He had at least 10 tackles in three games, including a career-high 14 tackles at Ferrum (10/19), and tied for third in the ODAC in fumbles recovered (30th in DIII), while fifth in tackles per game (8.0) and tied for 10th in total tackles.

Manning Lasso started all 10 games and was second on the team with 40 receptions for 517 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, including a career-high two touchdowns on three occasions, most recently at Bridgewater (11/2). He had two 100-yard receiving games, including a career-high 121 yards vs. Averett (10/26), and tied for second in the ODAC in receiving touchdowns, while fifth in receptions, receptions per game (4.0), receiving yards and receiving yards per game (51.7), and 19th in all-purpose yards per game (51.7).

Austin Fernandez started all 10 games and was fourth on the team with 19 receptions for 255 receiving yards and three touchdowns, including a career-high two touchdowns at Brevard (NC) (9/14). He had a season-high 99 receiving yards at Brevard, as well, and tied for ninth in the ODAC in receiving touchdowns, while 16th in receiving yards, tied for 16th in receptions per game (1.9), 17th in receiving yards per game (25.5) and tied for 17th in receptions. Austin completed his H-SC career with 122 receptions for 1,629 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns—starting all 30 career games.

Terry Hicks started all nine games he played and rushed for 855 yards on 164 attempts and nine rushing touchdowns, adding 18 receptions for 162 receiving yards. He had four 100-yard rushing games, including a career-high 207 yards at Bridgewater (11/2), and was second in the ODAC in rushing yards per game (95.0, 44th in DIII) and all-purpose yards per game (113.0), fourth in rushing yards, tied for fourth in rushing touchdowns and seventh in rushing yards per carry (5.2).

Sutton Lasso started all 10 games and was third on the team with 30 receptions for 418 receiving yards and five touchdowns. He had a career-high 77 receiving yards vs. Delaware Valley (PA), and tied for fourth in the ODAC in receiving touchdowns, while sixth in receiving yards and receiving yards per game, and ninth in receptions and receptions per game. Sutton completed his H-SC career with 44 receptions for 638 receiving yards and six touchdowns—starting 20 of 28 career games.

Carter Sido started the first nine games before a late season injury and passed for 1,842 yards (142-237-4) and 22 touchdowns with four interceptions thrown, adding 200 rushing yards on 89 attempts and two rushing touchdowns. He had four 250-yard passing games, including a career-high 282 yards at Ferrum (10/19), along with a career-high five passing touchdowns on two occasions, most recently at Ferrum, as well, and led the ODAC in passing touchdowns (48th in DIII) and passing efficiency (152.5), while third in passing yards, passing yards per game (204.7) and total offense per game (227.1), and fourth in completion percentage (59.9). Carter was 40th nationally in points responsible for per game (16.7).

Brendan Wallace started all 10 games and led the team with 74 total tackles, including 35 solo, 11.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, one pass breakup, three QB hurries and two fumbles recovered. He had at least 10 tackles in three games, including a career-high 13 tackles vs. Guilford (NC) (10/5), and was second in the ODAC in tackles for loss, tied for second in sacks, tied for third in fumbles recovered (30th in DIII), while sixth in total tackles and tackles per game (7.4). Brendan completed his H-SC career with 138 total tackles, including 54 solo, 20 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, two pass breakups, one forced fumble and three fumbles recovered—starting 20 of 29 career games.
