The host Tigers have won three-straight and four of their last five games and are now 4-3 overall, 3-1 (T-2nd) in the ODAC, while the visiting Quakers are 1-6 overall, 0-4 (T-7th) in the ODAC—with six consecutive losses. Bernard passed for a game-high 313 yards and three touchdowns, adding 32 yards rushing and the game-winning touchdown, while Swett added three field goals—including a 42-yarder on the final play of regulation to force OT—for the visiting Tigers en route to their road win against the host Generals. All-Time Wins Leader
With last week's dramatic victory at W&L, 23rd-year head coach
Marty Favret now totals 144 football coaching wins with the Tigers, surpassing legendary H-SC Hall of Fame head coach
J. Stokeley Fulton as the all-time winningest football coach at the College. Coach Favret has an overall record of 144-84, while Coach Fulton compiled a record of 143-99-5 over 25 seasons from 1960-84. Coach Favret will be recognized during a special pregame ceremony on Saturday.
The Series
H-SC leads the overall series against GC,
46-23. The Tigers have won 20 of the last 22 games played since Coach Favret took over prior to the 2000 season, including a 28-27 road win in Greensboro last September 25 (2021). H-SC and the Quakers first met on the gridiron in 1920, and the Tigers are 24-7 against GC since the Quakers joined the ODAC in 1991.
Scouting The Tigers
H-SC has the second-ranked passing offense in NCAA Division III (358.4), and is led offensively by
Tanner Bernard. Bernard has passed for 2,200 yards (171-263-3) and 20 touchdowns in six games, adding three touchdowns on the ground, as well. Bernard missed the Greensboro (NC) game (9/17) due to injury.
The running game features junior running back
Melik Frost (Hardeeville, SC). Frost has rushed for 648 yards on 130 attempts (5.0) and eight touchdowns, adding 209 yards receiving on 20 catches and one touchdown.
Sophomore wide receiver
Austin Fernandez (Warrenton) has led the receiving unit with 649 yards receiving on 48 receptions and five touchdowns. Freshman wide receiver
Mason Cunningham (Arlington) adds 571 yards receiving on 43 receptions and six touchdowns, while senior tight end
David Byler (Virginia Beach) has 451 yards receiving on 39 catches and six touchdowns, and junior wide receiver
Jamahdia Whitby (Williamsburg) has 259 yards receiving on 20 catches and five touchdowns.

Brice Wilson (Charlottesville) has averaged 24.9 yards on 11 kick returns, including a long of 34 yards.
Scouting Guilford
GC is expected to be led offensively by redshirt-sophomore quarterback Bailey Baker, sophomore running back Paulie Menegay, along with senior wide receivers Tre Alexander and Eric Mays. Baker has passed for 1,849 yards (135-228-11) and 14 touchdowns, adding three touchdowns on the ground, as well. Menegay has rushed for 124 yards on 38 attempts (3.3) and two touchdowns. Alexander has 727 yards receiving on 35 receptions and seven touchdowns, while Mays has 350 yards receiving on 29 catches and one touchdown. Freshman linebacker Nick Iannone has led the Quakers on defense with 62 total tackles, including 7.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, one forced fumble and one pass breakup. Senior safety Adam Lacy adds 51 total tackles, two interceptions and three pass breakups. Junior placekicker Cameron Haiduven is 15-19 on PATs, and 1-2 on field goals, including a long of 36 yards. Senior punter Cade Ratliff has averaged 37.2 yards on 33 punts, including a long of 66 yards, with eight fair-caught and five inside the 20. Sophomore Juju Rice has averaged 13.8 yards on eight kick returns, including a long of 31 yards.

Tanner Bernard connected with
Braeden Bowling for a 52-yard touchdown pass with 1:53 remaining in the game, and
Palmer Smith added the PAT, to give H-SC a 28-27 come-from-behind ODAC road win at GC. The visiting Tigers rallied from a 20-7 halftime deficit with three second-half touchdowns en route to winning their second-straight contest.

Tanner Bernard leads the ODAC in passing yards (2,200), passing yards per game (366.7), passing touchdowns (20), completions per game (28.5) and total offense (370.3), while second in completion percentage (65.0), passing efficiency (158.1) and passing yards per attempt (8.4), and third in passing yards per completion (12.9).  He ranks first in Division III in passing yards per game, while second nationally in completions per game and total offense, fifth in passing yards and 15th in passing touchdowns.
Will Pickren leads the ODAC in total tackles (85) and tackles per game (12.1), and is tied for third in interceptions (2). He ranks fourth in Division III in total tackles.
Melik Frost leads the ODAC in rushing yards (648), rushing yards per game (92.6), all-purpose yards (857), all-purpose yards per game (122.4) and total touchdowns (9), while tied for first in rushing touchdowns (8).

400-Yard Passing Games
Tanner Bernard has passed for 400-plus yards in two games this season ... and has now passed for over 300 yards 10 times in his H-SC career, including each of his six games played this season. He passed for a career-high 452 yards (33-49-0) and five touchdowns vs. Averett (10/15), after passing for 440 yards (33-44-2) and four touchdowns at Ferrum (10/8). Bernard has games of 346 yards and four-touchdowns at Wabash (9/3), 328 yards and three touchdowns vs. Widener (9/10), 321 yards and one touchdown at Bridgewater (10/1) and 313 yards and three touchdowns at Washington and Lee (10/22). Last season, Bernard had 393 yards passing vs. Washington and Lee (10/2/21), 316 yards and one touchdown at Widener (9/11/21), and 327 yards and two touchdowns at Guilford (9/25/21). He passed for 309 yards and three touchdowns at Guilford (3/19/21), as well.
From (Division III) H-SC To (FBS) Memphis
Ryan Silverfield '03 became the 25th head coach in the University of Memphis football history in December 2019. He is currently 18-14 overall in his third season at the helm of the Tigers, including 4-4 this season. Silverfield led Memphis to a record of 8-3 in 2020, and the Tigers were 6-6 in 2021. Ryan coached four seasons as an undergraduate at H-SC, starting as an offensive assistant in 2000, serving as the defensive line coach during 2001 and 2002, before coaching the tight ends and H-backs in 2003.
