Everett Stadium. It's the first-ever meeting between the two storied programs. The Tigers completed their abbreviated spring season with a record of 4-1 overall, 3-1 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC), while winning the third-place game of the ODAC's first-ever Football Championship Weekend, and based upon winning percentage (4-1, .800)—it was the finest season for the program since 2010 (9-2, .818). The Yellow Jackets were 0-2 overall, 0-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) during their shortened spring season that witnessed two cancellations, as well.

H-SC has a 126-year history of football, amassing 562 wins since beginning in 1892. The Tigers have experienced great success over the years, including nine ODAC Championships, nine Mason-Dixon Conference Championships, seven NCAA Division III Championship appearances, 85 All-Americans, 13 Academic All-America selections and 205 First Team All-ODAC honorees. H-SC also played in the 1970 and 1971 Knute Rockne Bowls (NCAA College Division East Regional Championship).

H-SC returns eight starters from a defense that ranked eighth in Division III total defense (236.8) in the spring, while 11th nationally in turnovers gained (11), 12th in scoring defense (12.2) and rushing defense (65.2), 14th in fumbles recovered (5), 17th in fewest penalty yards per game (36.20), 18th in turnover margin (1.00), 19th in fewest penalties per game (4.40) and 20th in passes intercepted (6). The Tigers won their first three games of the spring by a combined score of 90-12, including two-straight shutouts to open the season, the first time the program has posted back-to-back shutouts since 1989.

Tanner Bernard/Lynchburg who was named Second Team All-ODAC following the spring season after transferring in January of 2021 from UVA Wise. The Tigers are talented at the running back position, led by senior returning starter
Kaleb Smith/Rocky Mount—a three-time All-ODAC selection. The tight end spot features fifth-year and returning D3football.com Second Team All-American and team captain
Ed Newman/Farmville, a returning starter and First Team All-ODAC selection. H-SC has veteran talent and depth at wide receiver and the slot receiver positions, including the fifth-year duo of team captain

H-SC ranked 17th nationally in the spring in fewest penalty yards per game (36.20), 18th in turnover margin (1.00), 19th in fewest penalties per game (4.40) and 3rd down conversion percentage (.455), as well as 20th in first down offense (100) and completion percentage (.600).
Baldwin Wallace Football
BW has a 117-year history of football, compiling 603 wins. The Yellow Jackets won the 1978 NCAA Division III National Championship and have six Division III Championship appearances, 10 OAC Championships, 155 All-Americans and 34 Academic All-America selections.
Scouting The Yellow Jackets
BW is expected to be led offensively by junior quarterback Keagan Armitage, classmate and running back Jon Murray, Jr. and senior wide receiver Darius Stokes. Armitage completed 32-54 passes (59.3) for 359 yards and one touchdown with two interceptions thrown in two games in the spring. His numbers in 2019 were 105-172 for 1,523 yards and 14 touchdowns with four interceptions. Murray rushed for 124 yards on 41 carries with one touchdown in the spring, but ran for 757 yards on 170 carries with eight touchdowns in 2019. Stokes had 16 receptions for 229 yards and one touchdown in the spring, and had 20 receptions for 251 yards and three touchdowns in 2019.
Defensively, BW features senior linebacker Nick Pankow and senior defensive back Anthony Kendall. Pankow had 25 total tackles in the spring. He had 78 total tackles in 2019, six tackles for loss, two sacks, five quarterback hurries, three pass breakups and one fumble recovery. Kendall had 13 total tackles in the spring. He had 23 total tackles in 2019, two tackles for loss and two interceptions.
Junior placekicker Dean Sarris also returns for BW. He was 4-5 on PATs (80%) and 1-2 on field goals in the spring. Sarris was 37-38 on PATs (97%) and 7-11 on field goals in 2019, including a long of 49 yards.
ODAC Football Preseason Poll
H-SC has been picked second in the 2021 ODAC Football Preseason Poll. The Tigers garnered 27 points for second among the seven schools, their highest preseason ranking since 2016. Randolph-Macon was picked first with 36 points, ahead of H-SC (27), Bridgewater (26), Washington and Lee (25), Shenandoah (14), Ferrum (13) and Guilford (6).

H-SC fifth-year tight end and team captain
Ed Newman has been named to the 2021 D3football.com Preseason All-America Third Team. He started all five games this past spring and led the Tigers with 19 receptions for 281 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Ed was tied for fourth in ODAC receiving yards, fifth in receiving yards per game (56.2), tied for sixth in receptions and tied for eighth in receiving touchdowns. Newman was also named First Team All-ODAC, First Team VaSID All-State and to the ODAC All-Academic Team. He has started 18 of 26 career games with 59 receptions for 834 yards and six touchdowns. Newman was recognized as a 2020-21 D3football.com All-America Second Team selection following the spring.

A starter in 18 of 26 career games, Ed is the son of Walt and Cindy Newman. A starter in 31 of 32 career games, Brendan is the son of Craig and Jill Weinberg.
