Swimming Opens Season at Home, Break Several School Records

Hampden-Sydney Swimming opened their season at home on Saturday, narrowly falling to Frostburg State 133-128 and Barton College 144-108. Frostburg State defeated Barton 135-121 in men while rolling 204-32 in women.

TIGERS TOP PERFORMANCES

  • Carter Cole, Ryan Mitchell, Conor O'Heir, and Brandon Koch set the school record in the 400 meter medley relay at 4:30:18, finishing third
  • Tate Socha, John Dickerson, Hudson Elmore, and Keifer Pfister also broke the previous top mark in the 400 meter medley relay at 4:35.03
  • Hudson Elmore fell just short of his own school record in the 100 meter butterfly, finishing in 1:02.49 for second place
  • John Dickerson set a new school-best mark in the 50 meter breaststroke at 34:11, finishing third
  • Ryan Mitchell also broke the previous high-water mark in the 50 meter breaststroke, hitting the stopping block in 34:25
  • Carter Cole took top honors in the 100 meter backstroke at 1:07.00
  • Both Carter Cole and Keifer Pfister broke the school record in the 400 meter freestyle, placing third and fifth respectively with times of 4:48.28 and 5:08.10
  • Hudson Elmore beat his own school record in the 50 meter butterfly at 28.50 to place second
  • Carter Cole established a new school record while finishing fourth in the 100 meter IM at 1:05.88. Hudson Elmore and Ryan Mitchell also beat the previous record, clocking in at 1:08.72 and 1:09.15
  • The team of Stewart Lawrence, Conor O'Heir, Brady Updike, and Brandon Koch set a new school record in the 400 meter freestyle relay, placing second with a time of 4:11.49
