GREENSBORO, NC -- Sophomore
Quinlan Ragsdale (Charlottesville) broke his own school record in the 100 Yard Backstroke and followed it up with the second-best time in program history, as Hampden-Sydney College finished its season at the 2026 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Swimming Championships. Washington and Lee University claimed the ODAC crown on the men's side, racking up 861.5 points.
The Tigers took part in three relay events over the four days of competition, pairing Ragsdale, junior
Owen Renfrow (Bowling Green, KY), and freshmen
Ryan Barnett (Killeen, TX) and
Nikolias Theriault (Poland, ME) together in the 200 and 400 Yard Freestyle Relays and the 200 Yard Medley Relay. The 200 Yard Freestyle saw them post a time of 1:39.81, and the 400 Yard Freestyle time was 3:41.01. In the 200 Yard Medley Relay, the foursome put up a time of 1:48.86.
Ragsdale swam in three individual events, making the finals in both the 100 Yard Backstroke and the 50 Yard Freestyle, while barely missing out on the finals in the 100 Yard Freestyle. The 100 Yard Backstroke Prelims saw him put down the record-breaking time of 53.03 seconds, smashing his previous record of 54.65, and placing eighth to earn a spot in the championship finals. He then finished eighth in the championship finals, putting up a 53.61 second time. In the 50 Freestyle, he posted two season-best times, finishing 16th in the prelims with a 21.91 second time, and following it up with a 21.90 in the finals to place 16th. In his final event, the 100 Yard Freestyle, he posted a season-best time of 48.99.
Renfrow took part in three individual events, narrowly missing out on the finals of the 100 Yard Breaststroke, while also competing in the 50 and 100 Yard Freestyles. In the 100 Yard Breaststroke, put down a season-best time of 1:02.53, to place 17th. In the 50 Yard Freestyle, he posted a season-best time of 24.28 seconds, and followed it up with a season-best time of 53.86 in the 100 Yard Freestyle.
Barnett took part in both the 50 and 100 Yard Freestyles, along with the 100 Yard Breaststroke. He put down season-best times in both the 50 Yard Freestyle and 100 Yard Freestyle, with times of 26.94 and 58.96, respectively. He then secured a season-best time in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:16.14.
Theriault competed in the 50 and 100 Yard Freestyles as well as the 100 Yard Backstroke. He posted a season-best time in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:01.77. In the 50 Yard Freestyle, he had a time of 28.08, and the 100 Yard Backstroke saw him post a time of 1:16.35.
