FINAL RESULTS

HARRISONBURG, Va. – Senior Joseph Weinstein (Midlothian) posted a team-best final round of three-under par 69 on Tuesday to lead the Hampden-Sydney College C Golf Team to a round of 288 for a 36-hole team score of 293-288—581 at the Kinder-Williams Invitational played at the Lakeview Golf Club in Harrisonburg. Junior Sean Acree (Chesterfield) led the C Team with his two-day score of one-under par 72-71—143 to tie for eighth individually among the 91 collegiate golfers, and Weinstein finished at one-over par 76-69—145 to tie for 13th, while the Tigers' C Team fourth among 16 teams.

Weinstein had one eagle with a two on the par 4, 336-yard first hole, along with six birdies and seven pars during his day two round at the par 72, 6,714-yard layout, finishing with one eagle, 10 birdies and 16 pars, while Acree had six birdies and seven pars, finishing with 12 birdies and 15 pars. They were followed on the C Team by senior Tucker Smith (Richmond) (72-74—146, T-17), sophomore Michael Parash (Southampton, NY) (73-74—147, T-22) and senior Landon Honig (Glen Allen) (76-74—150, T-46). Smith had one eagle with a three on the par 5, 561-yard third hole, along with one birdie and 13 pars, finishing with two eagles, four birdies and 22 pars. Parash had one birdie and 14 pars, finishing with five birdies and 23 pars. Honig had six birdies and four pars, finishing with eight birdies and 14 pars in his first collegiate tournament.

Acree finished second among the tournament field in birdies (12), and tied for second in par 4 scoring (3.95, -1). Weinstein tied for fourth in par 5 scoring (4.25, -6), eagles (1) and birdies (10), and tied for 19th in par 4 scoring (4.15, +3). Smith tied for first in eagles (2) and tied for 14th in pars (22). Parash tied for eighth in both par 3 scoring (3.00, E) and pars (23). Honig also tied for fourth in par 5 scoring (4.25, -6) and tied for 11th in birdies (8).

The H-SC B Golf Team also competed in the event and was led by freshman Owen Lingerfelt (Henrico) who also posted one-over par 73-72—145 to tie for 13th, as well, helping the squad to a score of 295-293—588 to finish sixth. He had three birdies and 12 pars during his final round, finishing with seven birdies and 22 pars in his first collegiate tournament, and was followed by junior Garnett Hall (Richmond) (72-74—146, T-17), junior Oliver Tobin (Charlotte, NC) (76-73—149, T-36), freshman Trevor Proicou (Charlotte, NC) (75-74—149, T-36) and senior Nick Bernard (Southern Shores, NC) (75-77—152, T-53). Hall had three birdies and 11 pars, finishing with seven birdies and 22 pars. Tobin had four birdies and 10 pars, finishing with one eagle, five birdies and 20 pars. Proicou had four birdies and eight pars, finishing with seven birdies and 18 pars in his first collegiate tournament. Bernard had two birdies and nine pars, finishing with six birdies and 18 pars.

Lingerfelt tied for eighth in par 3 scoring (3.00, E), tied for 14th in pars (22), tied for 16th in birdies (7) and tied for 19th in par 4 scoring (4.15, +3). Hall tied for 12th in par 4 scoring (4.10, +2), also tied for 14th in pars (22), also tied for 16th in birdies (7), while tied for 16th in par 3 scoring (3.13, +1), as well. Tobin tied for fourth in eagles (1) and tied for seventh in par 4 scoring (4.05, +1). Proicou tied for seventh in par 5 scoring (4.38, -5) and also tied for 16th in birdies (7).

Bridgewater won the tournament with its 284-279—563, while BC's Jayden Hendricks took individual medalist honors at 69-68—137.

The H-SC B/C Teams will play again in the 77th VSGA Intercollegiate Championship, 36-hole individuals-only event on October 19-20 at the Meadowbrook Country Club in Richmond.
