HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College junior Jack Barnes (Manakin Sabot), along with sophomores Luke Combs (Newport News), Oliver Tobin (Charlotte, NC) and Groves Williams (Greenville, SC), have each been named 2025-26 NCAA Division III Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars, as announced recently by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Barnes has earned this outstanding distinction for the second consecutive year, while this is the first time for Combs, Tobin and Williams.

In addition, the Hampden-Sydney Golf Team has earned the 2025-26 PLATFORM Golf All-Academic Team Award as announced by the GCAA. A GCAA-record 331 schools across six divisions earned a PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Awards. The Tigers with their 3.26 team GPA were among 180 schools that received All-Academic Team recognition for having an average team GPA of 3.0 or above in 2025-26.

Jack Barnes is a Mathematical Economics major, and minors in Law and Public Policy, with a 3.33 GPA. On the course, he ranked 92nd in Region IV with his 76.0 scoring average through the 10 tournaments and 30 rounds. Jack posted season-low scores of 67 for 18 holes, 149 for 36 holes and 222 for 54 holes. Jack tied for 12th at the 2026 ODAC Championships, posting 232. Overall, he earned one Top 20 individual finish with three rounds of par or better, and is a three-time member of the ODAC All-Academic Team (2023-24, 2024-25, 2025-26).

Luke Combs is an Economics and Business major, and minors in Rhetoric, with a 3.60 GPA. On the course, Combs ranked 156th in NCAA Division III and 58th in Region IV with his team-best 74.97 scoring average through 10 tournaments and 30 rounds. He posted season-low scores of 70 (3X) for 18 holes and 140 for 36 holes, along with a collegiate-best 216 for 54 holes. Luke tied for 25th at the 2026 ODAC Championships, posting 236. Overall, he earned two Top 20 individual finishes with four rounds of par or better, was a Third Team All-ODAC selection, is a two-time member of the ODAC All-Academic Team (2024-25, 2025-26) and was a member of the 2025-26 Academic All-District® At-Large Team as selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC) for Division III.

Oliver Tobin is also an Economics and Business major, and also minors in Rhetoric, with a 3.31 GPA. On the course, Tobin ranked 138th in Region IV with his 77.23 scoring average through 10 tournaments and 30 rounds. He posted season-low scores of 69 for 18 holes and 142 for 36 holes, while tying a collegiate-best 219 for 54 holes. Oliver tied for 46th at the 2026 ODAC Championships, posting 247. Overall, he had three rounds of par or better and is member of the 2025-26 ODAC All-Academic Team.

Groves Williams is an Economics and Business major, and minors in rhetoric, as well, with a 3.56 GPA. On the course, Williams ranked 139th in Division III and 52nd in Region IV with his 75.11 scoring average through seven tournaments and 18 rounds. He posted collegiate-low scores of 67 for 18 holes, 143 for 36 holes and 219 for 54 holes. Groves tied for sixth at the 2026 ODAC Championships, posting 229, earning All-Tournament Team honors for this top six finish. Overall, he earned two Top Five and three Top 10 among four Top 20 finishes overall with four rounds of par or better, is a two-time member of the ODAC All-Academic Team (2024-25, 2025-26) and was a member of the 2025-26 Academic All-District® At-Large Team as selected by CSC for Division III.

To be eligible for Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their associate's degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must participate in 50% of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 79.0 in NCAA Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.

H-SC finished 2025-26 ranked 45th in the final SCOREBOARD powered by clippd NCAA Division III Men's Golf rankings, including 16th in Region IV. The Tigers averaged 300.87 per round through 10 tournaments and 30 rounds, posting one Top Five and four Top 10 among eight Top 20 finishes overall, including fourth at the 2026 ODAC Championships.
