FINAL RESULTS

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Freshman Til Wagner (Charlotte, NC) posted a final round 73 on Tuesday for a team-best 54-hole score of one-over par 73-71-73—217 to lead Hampden-Sydney College to a team score of 17-over par 295-294-292—881 at the Gate City Invitational played at the Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Tigers finished sixth among the 18 teams in the collegiate golf event, while Wagner tied for 17th individually among the 99 golfers.

Wagner had six birdies and seven pars during his round at the par 72, 7,120-yard course, finishing his first collegiate tournament with 13 birdies and 29 pars. He was followed by senior Jack Barnes (Manakin Sabot) (77-72-73—222, T-32), junior Groves Williams (Greenville, SC) (73-76-74—223, T-36), junior Luke Combs (Newport News) (76-75-73—224, T-42), along with sophomore Matthew Teegardin (Charleston, SC) (73-80-73—226, T-49). Barnes had five birdies and eight pars, finishing with 12 birdies and 26 pars. Williams had one birdie and 14 pars, finishing with eight birdies and 33 pars. Combs had three birdies and 11 pars, finishing with eight birdies and 31 pars. Teegardin had five birdies and seven pars, finishing with nine birdies and 31 pars.

Wagner tied for fourth among the field in both par 5 scoring (4.58, -5) and birdies (13), and tied for 15th in par 4 scoring (4.07, +2). Barnes also tied for fourth in par 5 scoring (4.58, -5) and tied for sixth in birdies (12). Williams tied for 11th in par 5 scoring (4.67, -4). Teegardin tied for 20th in both par 3 scoring (3.17, +2) and birdies (9).

Huntingdon (AL) won the event with its nine-under par 281-288-286—855, while four players posted three-under par 213, including Huntingdon's Cole Humphrey (69-74-70) and Myles Cunningham III (71-72-70).

H-SC will play again at the two-day, 54-hole West Pines Collegiate on October 5-6 at the West Pines Golf Club in Douglasville, Georgia.
