HARRISONBURG, Va. – Senior Tucker Smith (Richmond) and junior Sean Acree (Chesterfield) each posted first-round even par scores of 72 on Monday to lead the Hampden-Sydney College C Golf Team to a round of 293 at the Kinder-Williams Invitational being played at the Lakeview Golf Club in Harrisonburg. Smith and Acree are each tied for 13th among the 91 collegiate golfers, while the Tigers' C Team stands seventh among 16 teams.

Smith had one eagle with a three on the par 5, 589-yard sixth hole, along with three birdies and nine pars during his opening round at the par 72, 6,714-yard layout, while Acree had six birdies and eight pars. They are being followed on the C Team by sophomore Michael Parash (Southampton, NY) (73, T-22), along with seniors Landon Honig (Glen Allen) (76, T-44) and Joseph Weinstein (Midlothian) (76, T-44). Parash had four birdies and nine pars. Honig had two birdies and 10 pars in his first collegiate round. Weinstein had four birdies and nine pars.

The H-SC B Golf Team is also competing in the event and is being led by junior Garnett Hall (Richmond) who also posted an even par 72—tied for 13th—with four birdies and 11 pars, helping the squad to a round of 295 to stand eighth. He is being followed by freshman Owen Lingerfelt (Henrico) (73, T-22), senior Nick Bernard (Southern Shores, NC) (75, T-34) and freshman Trevor Proicou (Charlotte, NC) (75, T-34), along with junior Oliver Tobin (Charlotte, NC) (76, T-44). Lingerfelt had four birdies and 10 pars in his first collegiate round. Bernard had four birdies and nine pars. Proicou had three birdies and 10 pars in his first collegiate round. Tobin had one eagle with a three on the par 5, 480-yard 14th hole, along with one birdie and 10 pars.

Bridgewater, Roanoke and Christopher Newport are leading the tournament with teams rounds of 284, while CNU's Jimmy Spallone and Wyatt Reeder of Pfeiffer (NC) are tied individually with rounds of 68.

The H-SC B/C Teams will continue and complete competition in the 36-hole event on Tuesday, September 15 in Harrisonburg.
