Jack Barnes (Manakin Sabot) posted final round of two-over par 74 on Tuesday for a 54-hole score of 80-71-74—225 to lead Hampden-Sydney College to a team score of 305-289-308—902 at the
Capitol City Classic played at the RTJ Golf Trail at Capitol Hill in Prattville, Alabama. The Tigers tied for 12th among the 18 teams in the prestigious collegiate golf event, while Barnes tied for 37th individually among the 95 golfers.
Barnes had two birdies and 13 pars during his third round at the par 72, 7,326-yard Senator course, finishing with eight birdies and 33 pars, and was followed by sophomores
Luke Combs (Newport News) (73-72-81—226, T-43rd),
Groves Williams (Greenville, SC) (78-72-76—226, T-43rd),
Oliver Tobin (Charlotte, NC) (74-76-79—229, T-55th) and
Garnett Hall (Richmond) (84-74-79—237, T-78th). Combs had one birdie and nine pars, finishing with two eagles, five birdies and 29 pars. Williams had two birdies and 10 pars, finishing with seven birdies and 31 pars. Tobin had two birdies and nine pars, finishing with nine birdies and 25 pars. Hall had one birdie and nine pars, finishing with four birdies and 27 pars.
Combs tied for first among the tournament field in eagles and tied for 10th in par 5 scoring (4.58, -5). Tobin also tied for 10th in par 5 scoring (4.58, -5), and tied for 18th in birdies and 19th in par 3 scoring (3.17, +2). Barnes tied for 22nd in par 4 scoring (4.20, +6) and tied for 23rd in pars.

HC's Myles Cunningham (69-67-76) and second-ranked Washington and Lee University's Timothy Kaufman (70-71-71) tied for first individually at four-under par 212.

Sam Snead Collegiate on April 13-14 at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club Gold Course in Williamsburg.
