Groves Williams (Greenville, SC) has been named the
Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Golfer of the Week for the period March 26-31. Groves posted a 36-hole score of two-over par 72-74—146 to finish second individually among 73 golfers at theÂ
Glenn Heath Shipbuilders Memorial on March 30-31 and played at the Williamsburg Golf Club in Williamsburg.
Williams posted seven birdies and 20 pars during his two rounds on the par 72, 6,745-yard layout. He co-led the tournament field in par 5 scoring (4.38, -5), tied for third in par 4 scoring (4.15, +3), tied for fourth in birdies, tied for 11th in pars and tied for 30th in par 3 scoring (3.50, +4). Williams is averaging 75.33 through four events and nine rounds, and this is the first time that Groves has been named the conference golfer of the week during his collegiate career.
H-SC will compete again next week at the two-day, 54-hole
Capitol City Invitational on April 6-7 at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Capitol Hill in Prattville, Alabama.
