HARRISONBURG, Va. -- Junior Jackson Herndon (Chatham) posted a time of 2:08.50 in the 800 meter run to lead Hampden-Sydney College at the 2026 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Eastern Mennonite University on Saturday in Harrisonburg. Unfortunately, Herndon and another runner made contact just past halfway and both runners fell before continuing ... Jackson was running fourth at the time in the fastest of the three heats, and officially placed 21st among the 23 who finished the event. Herndon had qualified with the third-best 800 time (1:54.20) in the ODAC this outdoor season ... Elias Ammon of Roanoke College won the event with a time of 1:53.15.

Jackson Herndon established two new outdoor program records this spring, including his times of 1:54.20 in the 800 and 3:57.86 in the 1500. He also set two new program marks during the indoor season with his respective times of 1:55.80 in the 800 and 4:28.20 in the mile.

H-SC Distance Track has completed its 2026 outdoor season under the director of first-year head coach Jared Deaton and could return as many as six Tigers for 2027.
