LEXINGTON, Va. -- Junior
Jackson Herndon (Chatham) posted a collegiate-best and new school-record time of 3:59.97 in the outdoor 1500 meter run to lead Hampden-Sydney College at the
W&L Track & Field Carnival on Friday hosted by Washington and Lee University at Wilson Field in Lexington. Jackson finished first among 18 runners in the 1500 Invite, comfortably ahead of runner-up Jay Woodhouse (4:02.13) of Case Western Reserve (OH) University. It was Herndon's first time competing in the outdoor 1500 collegiately.
Juniors
Jefferson Duffey (Keysville) and
Dylan Evans (Virginia Beach) each competed in the Unseeded 1500, as Duffey posted a time of 4:50.88 to place 17th among 20 runners, and Evans posted a time of 4:59.19 to finish 19th—each with collegiate-best times, as well, while also running the outdoor distance for the first time collegiately. Brian Mix of Franklin & Marshall (PA) College won the event with a time of 4:21.58.
H-SC will compete again at the
Dr. Jack M. Toms Invitational hosted by the University of Lynchburg on March 27-28 at the Shellenberger Field & Dr. Jack M. Toms Track in Lynchburg.
