SALEM, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College junior
Jackson Herndon (Chatham) posted a time of 1:56.53 in the 800 meter run to place third among 22 runners at the
2026 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Roanoke College on Sunday at the Cregger Center in Salem. Herndon finished just behind Donald (DJ) McDonough of Washington and Lee University and his winning time of 1:54.21, and runner-up Elias Ammon of Roanoke, who posted 1:55.50. Jackson's third-place effort is the highest-ever finish at a conference championship in the sport, earning him Third Team All-ODAC honors, a first for him and the program with a time just off his school-record of 1:55.80 in the event.
H-SC will begin its outdoor season at the Washington and Lee Carnival on March 20-21 in Lexington.
