Hampden-Sydney B/C Golf Teams Complete Competition At The Kinder-Williams Invitational

FINAL RESULTS

HARRISONBURG, Va. --
Sophomore Groves Williams (Greenville, SC) posted a second-round score of 76 on Tuesday for a 36-hole score of one-under par 67-76—143 to lead the Hampden-Sydney College B Golf Team to a score of 292-305—597 and a sixth-place finish among 16 teams at the Kinder-Williams Invitational played at the Lakeview Golf Club in Harrisonburg. Williams tied for fifth individually among the 90 collegiate golfers.

Williams had four birdies and eight pars during his second round at the par 72, 6,748-yard layout, finishing the tournament with 11 birdies and 17 pars, and was followed on the B Team by sophomore Sean Acree (Chesterfield) (72-76—148, T-21), junior Peyton Lambert (Hartfield) (75-75—150, T-32), senior Jack Hoyle (Midlothian) (78-78—156, T-56) and junior Joseph Weinstein (Midlothian) (77-79—157, 61).

The H-SC C Golf Team also competed in the event and was led by freshman Hudson Griffin (Pinehurst, NC) who posted a one-over par 73 during round two for a 36-hole score of two-over par 73-73—146 to lead the C squad to a score of 309-306—615 and an 11th-place finish. Griffin tied for 15th individually with one birdie and 15 pars on day two, finishing with four birdies and 25 pars, and was followed by freshman Mike Parash (Southampton, NY) (79-73—152, T-40), senior Pierce Lambert (Hartfield) (79-74—153, T-46), along with classmate Jack Craig (Raleigh, NC) (88-86—174, T-84) and junior Tucker Poole (Norfolk) (78-96—174, T-84).

Tournament host Bridgewater College won their own event with a 36-hole team score of four-under par 288-284—572. Walker Gillespie of the Eagles took individual medalist honors at seven-under par 68-69—137.

The H-SC B/C Teams will compete again at the 36-hole Shenandoah Invite on September 29 at the Winchester Country Club in Winchester.
