Capitol City Invitational played at the RTJ Golf Trail at Capitol Hill in Prattville, Alabama. Senior All-American
Nick Rubino (Charlotte, NC) led the Tigers with his two-day score of six-over par 76-74—150 that tied for 42nd individually among the 90 collegiate golfers.
Rubino posted one eagle, three birdies and eight pars during his second round on the par 72, 7,243-yard layout, and finished the tournament tied for first in eagles (1) and tied for third in par 5 scoring (4.38, -5). He was followed by senior
Rece Lott (Fort Worth, TX) (77-78—155, T-61st), sophomore
Jack Barnes (Manakin Sabot) (82-74—156, T-65th), freshman
Luke Combs (Newport News) (82-78—160, T-76th), along with senior
John Hutcheson (Edina, MN) (81-82—163, T-82nd). Lott posted two birdies and eight pars on Tuesday, while Barnes had three birdies and 10 pars, Combs had two birdies and nine pars, and Hutcheson had one birdie and nine pars.
The competitive tournament field featured 10 teams that are ranked among the Top 25 nationally in the latest
SCOREBOARD powered by clippd NCAA Division III Men's Golf rankings, including five of the Top 10, as fellow Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) member and second-ranked Washington and Lee University won the event with its 15-under par 287-274—561. W&L's Jonathan McEwen took individual medalist honors at 10-under par 69-65—134 in the weather-shortened, 36-hole competition.
H-SC will compete again at the
Cochran Collegiate on April 14-15, a 54-hole tournament to be played at the Colonial Country Club in Cordova, Tennessee near Memphis.
