No. 18 Hampden-Sydney Stands Second At The 2025 ODAC Men's Golf Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The nationally-ranked No. 18 Hampden-Sydney College Golf team posted a second-round score of five-over par 293 on Tuesday for a 36-hole team score of 295-293—588 to stand second among 11 teams at the 2025 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men's Golf Championship being played at the Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina. Senior All-American and team captain Nick Rubino (Charlotte, NC) is leading the Tigers with his even par 71-73—144 that is tied for third individually among the 55 collegiate golfers.

Rubino had three birdies and 12 pars during his second round of one-over par 73 on the 6,970-yard, par 72 layout. He is being followed by sophomore Jack Barnes (Manakin Sabot) (74-72—146, T-7th), freshman Luke Combs (Newport News (76-73—149, T-17th) and senior Rece Lott (Fort Worth, TX) (74-75—149, T-17th), along with senior John Hutcheson (Edina, MN) (83-76—159, 45th). Barnes had one eagle, two birdies and 12 pars during his even par round of 72—posting his eagle 3 on the 523-yard, par 5 4th hole—moving up 11 spots on day two. Combs had four birdies and nine pars during his one-over round of 73, moving up 11 spots, as well. Lott had two birdies and 12 pars during his three-over round of 75. Hutcheson had three birdies and nine pars during his four-over round of 76.

The University of Lynchburg, ranked eighth nationally in the latest SCOREBOARD powered by clippd NCAA Division III Men's Golf rankings, is leading the event with its one-over par 287-290—577, while Jonathan McEwen of Washington and Lee University is the individual leader after 36 holes at seven-under par 65-72—137. W&L is ranked first nationally, while McEwen is the top-ranked golfer in Division III, as well.

The Garnet & Grey are 11 shots back of the Hornets, while two shots ahead of 14-ranked Guilford (NC) and four shots in front of the top-ranked Generals. Rubino is among a group of three that are three shots out of second place and seven shots behind McEwen, while Barnes is just two shots out of the top five and both Combs and Lott are only five shots out of the top five.

H-SC will continue and complete its competition in the three-day, 54-hole conference championship on Wednesday, April 30, in Greensboro with tee-times beginning at 9:50 a.m. for the Tigers.
