No. 18 Hampden-Sydney Tied For Second At The 2025 ODAC Men's Golf Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The nationally-ranked No. 18 Hampden-Sydney College Golf team posted a first-round score of seven-over par 295 on Monday to stand in a tie for second place among 11 teams at the 2025 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men's Golf Championship being played at the Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina. Senior All-American and team captain Nick Rubino (Charlotte, NC) is leading the Tigers with his one-under par round of 71 that is tied for second individually among the 55 collegiate golfers.

Rubino had one eagle, two birdies and 12 pars during his opening round on the 6,970-yard, par 72 layout—posting his eagle 3 on the 551-yard, par 5 11th hole. He is being followed by senior Rece Lott (Fort Worth, TX) (74, T-18th) and sophomore Jack Barnes (Manakin Sabot) (74, T-18th), freshman Luke Combs (Newport News (76, T-28th), along with senior John Hutcheson (Edina, MN) (83, T-50th). Lott had two birdies and 12 pars, while Barnes had one birdie and 14 pars. Combs had three birdies and 10 pars, and Hutcheson had one eagle, one birdie and six pars—posting his eagle 3 on the closing 586-yard, par 5 18th hole.

The University of Lynchburg, ranked eighth nationally, is leading the event with its one-under par 287, while Jonathan McEwen of Washington and Lee University is the individual leader after 18 holes at seven-under par 65. W&L is ranked first nationally, while McEwen is the top-ranked golfer in Division III, as well. The Garnet & Grey are only eight shots back of the Hornets, while Rubino is among a group of five that are six shots behind McEwen.

H-SC will continue its competition in the three-day, 54-hole tournament on Tuesday, April 29, in Greensboro with tee-times beginning at 9:50 a.m. for the Tigers.
