Nick Rubino (Charlotte, NC) posted a 54-hole score of four-over par 72-75-73—220 to finish first individually among 90 collegiate golfers at the
Cochran Collegiate played at the Colonial Country Club in Cordova, Tennessee near Memphis. Rubino earned a two-stroke victory for his medalist honors, and won the second collegiate tournament of his career, to lead No. 18 Hampden-Sydney College Golf to a sixth-place finish among 18 teams with a score of 314-309-301—924.
Rubino posted four birdies and 10 pars during his final round on the par 72, 7,097-yard layout, and finished with a combined 11 birdies and 29 pars en route to the triumph. Nick led the tournament field in par 4 scoring (4.00, E), tied for second in birdies and tied for fifth in par 5 scoring (4.83, -2). He was followed by freshman
Oliver Tobin (Charlotte, NC) (77-77-73—227, T-9th), sophomore
Jack Barnes (Manakin Sabot) (82-80-79—241, T-65th), along with seniors
John Hutcheson (Edina, MN) (83-84-76—243, T-70th) and
Rece Lott (Fort Worth, TX) (85-77-84—246, T-75th).
Tobin posted two birdies and 13 pars in round three, and finished with a combined 11 birdies and 25 pars. Oliver led the tournament field in par 3 scoring (2.83, -2), tied for second in birdies and tied for 25th in par 4 scoring (4.30, +9). Barnes had 12 pars in round three, and finished with one eagle, nine birdies and 28 pars—posting one of seven eagles during the tournament. Hutcheson had 14 pars in round three, and finished with two birdies and 30 pars. John tied for sixth in par 3 scoring (3.25, +3). Lott had one birdie and seven pars during round three, and finished with five birdies and 21 pars.
The competitive tournament field featured eight teams that are ranked among the Top 25 nationally in the latest
SCOREBOARD powered by clippd NCAA Division III Men's Golf rankings, including four of the Top 10, as ninth-ranked Oglethorpe (GA) University won the event with its 303-300-296—899. The 18th-ranked Tigers were just two shots out of fifth place.
H-SC will compete again at the
2025 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championships on April 28-30, a 54-hole tournament to be played at the Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina.
