LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Sophomore
Jackson Herndon (Chatham) equaled his collegiate-best and school-record time of 1:58.35 in the outdoor 800-meter run to lead Hampden-Sydney College at the
Dr. Jack M. Toms Alumni Invitational hosted by the University of Lynchburg on Friday and Saturday in Lynchburg. Herndon finished 19th among 65 runners in the 800, while matching his exact record time in the event from 2024 at Randolph College.
Others competing in the 800 were sophomore
Davis Mills (Sanford, NC) (2:25.25, 61st), senior
Kevin Busch (Greensboro, NC) (2:35.04, 64th) along with freshman
William Cole (Virginia Beach) (2:43.24, 65th).
Additionally, fifth-year team captain
Carter Burcham (Rockville) posted a time of 16:55.80 in the outdoor 5000-meter run on Friday evening to place sixth among nine, while freshman
Jordan Chorbaji (Charlottesville) posted a time of 4:28.99 in the outdoor 1500-meter run on Saturday to finish 34th among 49. Also competing in the 1500 were senior team captain
Kade Minton (Wytheville) (4:37.90, 42nd) and freshman
Isaiah Leonard (Farmville) (5:21.14, 49th).
H-SC will compete again at the
Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic hosted by Lynchburg on April 11-12 in the Hill City.
