MEET RESULTS
PENN LAIRD, Va. -- Sophomore
Jackson Herndon (Chatham) posted a collegiate-best and new school-record time of 1:59.45 in the indoor 800-meter run to lead Hampden-Sydney College at the
Rockingham Collegiate Classic hosted by Bridgewater College on Friday at the new Rockingham Indoor Facility at Rockingham Park at the Crossroads in Penn Laird near Harrisonburg. Herndon finished fourth among 31 runners in the 800, and posted a new record time in the event for the second time in three weeks.
Others competing in the 800 were sophomores
Jefferson Duffey (Keysville) (2:24.29, 26th) and
Davis Mills (Sanford, NC) (2:24.53, 27th), senior
Kevin Busch (Greensboro, NC) (2:33.50, 30th) along with freshman
Isaiah Leonard (Farmville) (2:44.17, 31st). Duffey, Mills and Busch each ran new collegiate-best times for the indoor distance, as well.
Additionally, sophomore
Kam Maldonado (Palm Bay, FL) posted a new collegiate-best time of 4:55.62 in the indoor mile to place 25th among 37, and senior team captain
Kade Minton (Wytheville) had a time of 5:22.21 to finish 34th.
The Tigers' distance medley relay team consisting of Minton (1200, 3:41.27), Duffey (400, :58.00), Herndon (800, 2:09.92) and fifth-year team captain
Carter Burcham (Rockville) (1600, 4:50.87) posted a time of 11:39.06 to finish fourth among five teams.
H-SC will compete again at the
2025 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Roanoke College on Saturday and Sunday, March 1-2, at the Cregger Center in Salem.
