Cody Carnes (Hartfield) and freshman
Quinlan Ragsdale (Charlottesville) both made event finals as Hampden-Sydney College closed out the final day of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Swimming Championships in seventh place totaling 135 points over the four days of action. Washington and Lee University finished in first place, tallying 833.5 points.
In the only relay event of the evening, the 400 Yard Freestyle, the foursome of Carnes, Ragsdale, and senior
Matt Brooks (Springfield) and
Quinn Hardimon (Alexandria) placed seventh with a time of 3:20.22.
Ragsdale reached the finals of the 200 Yard Backstroke, finishing in 16th in the prelims with a time of 2:03.06. Finishing in 18th was senior
Brandon Hyde (Thousand Oaks, CA) finishing with a time of 2:05.20, qualifying as an alternate for the finals. In the finals, Ragsdale finished with a time of 2:11.26 to finish in 16th.
Carnes reached the final of the 100 Yard Butterfly, finishing with a time of 2:01.30 to place 15th and earn a place in the finals. Sophomore
Peter Gonzalez (Bakersfield, CA) was the only other Tiger in the event, finishing with a time of 2:10.73 to grab 20th. In the final, Carnes posted a time of 2:08.79 to finish in 16th.
Hardimon was the only Tiger in the 1650 Freestyle, finishing fifth in the prelims but grabbed 13th in the final of the event with a time of 17.41.10.
Brooks was the top Tiger in the 100 Yard Freestyle, finishing 23rd with a time of 50.09 seconds. Sophomore
Mason Brooking (Orange) was the next to finish for H-SC, taking 32nd place with a time of 55.02 seconds, followed by senior
Carson Mann (Matthews, NC) in 35th with a time of 59.75 seconds. Freshman
Jordan Chorbaji (Charlottesville) finished with a time of 1:01.83 to take 37th and sophomore
Roger Adams (Chatham) took 38th with a 1:02.42. No Tiger in the event made the finals
The 200 Yard Breaststroke saw sophomore
Owen Renfrow (Bowling Green, KY) be the first Tiger to finish with a time of 2:24.15 to take 23rd. In 25th was his brother senior
Cole Renfrow (Bowling Green, KY) with a time of 2:34.59. Rounding out the event for H-SC was junior
Jackson Piazza (Birmingham, AL) in 27th after finishing with a time of 2:54.80. H-SC did not have a swimmer in the finals of the event.
H-SC has completed the swimming campaign for the 2024-25 season.
