MEET RESULTS
SALEM, Va. -- Sophomore
Jackson Herndon (Chatham) posted a time of 2:01.80 in the indoor 800-meter run to lead Hampden-Sydney College at the
Joe LaRocco Invitational hosted by Roanoke College on Saturday at the Cregger Center in Salem. Herndon finished fifth among 57 runners in the 800, and was just off his school-record time (2:01.13) in the event that he established last week at the Liberty Open.
Others competing in the 800 were sophomores
Davis Mills (Sanford, NC) (2:31.13, 50th)
Jefferson Duffey (Keysville) (2:31.34, 51st), senior
Kevin Busch (Greensboro, NC) (2:39.30, 54th) along with freshmen
Isaiah Leonard (Farmville) (2:41.33, 55th) and
William Cole (Virginia Beach) (3:00.07, 57th). It was the first time competing in the event by both Leonard and Cole.
Additionally, fifth-year
Carter Burcham (Rockville) posted a time of 9:54.26 in the 3000-meter run to finish 33rd among 44 in the event. Sophomore
Kam Maldonado (Palm Bay, FL) posted an indoor mile time of 5:05.85 to place 56th among 80, and senior
Kade Minton (Wytheville) had a time of 5:12.51 to finish 63rd.
The Tigers' distance medley relay team consisting of Burcham (1200, 3:29.45), Duffey (400, :59.22), Herndon (800, 2:03.33) and Maldonado (1600, 5:08.94) posted a time of 11:41.94 to finish fifth among six teams.
H-SC will compete again at the
JDL Last Chance Invitational on Saturday, February 22, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
