Quinlan Ragsdale (Charlottesville) broke the 100 Yard Backstroke school record with a time of 54.65 seconds, and he along with seniors
Matt Brooks (Springfield), and
Cody Carnes (Hartfield) as well as sophomore
Owen Renfrow (Bowling Green, KY) broke the 200 Yard Medley Relay school record with a time of 1:39.54, on day three of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Swimming Championships. Hampden-Sydney College stands seventh of eight teams with one day remaining.
Ragsdale was the top finisher with his record-breaking performance in the 100 Yard Backstroke, finishing 13th to qualify for the finals. Senior
Brandon Hyde (Thousand Oaks, CA) was the next to finish for the Tigers, placing 22nd with a time of 57.48 seconds, with sophomore
Ben Gerber (New Bern, NC) right behind in 23rd place with a time of 1:04.74.
Ragsdale in the final of the 100 Yard Backstroke, finished in 14th with a time of 55.06.
The 200 Yard Medley relay saw the record-breaking foursome take a sixth-place finish.
Carnes was the top Tiger in the 100 Yard Butterfly, grabbing a spot as an alternate for the finals with a time of 52.21 seconds to place 17th. Hyde grabbed a 25th-place finish in the event with a time of 56.46 seconds, followed by sophomore
Peter Gonzalez (Bakersfield, CA) in 27th and Gerber in 28th with times of 56.72 seconds and 1:00.04 respectively.
Hardimon was the top finisher for H-SC in the 200 Yard Freestyle, placing in 21st with a time of 1:50.16. Brooks was the next Tiger to finish, placing 24th with a time of 1:54.16. Senior
Carson Mann (Matthews, NC) was next to finish in 29th with a time of 2:17.88 and freshman
Jordan Chorbaji (Charlottesville) in 31st with a time of 2:25.21. No Tiger reached the final of the 200 Yard Freestyle.
The 100 Yard Breaststroke saw
Owen Renfrow take a 23rd place finish with a time of 1:03.91, just edging out his brother senior
Cole Renfrow (Bowling Green, KY) in 24th with a time of 1:07.26. Junior
Jackson Piazza (Birmingham, AL) was the next Tiger to finish in 27th with a time of 1:14.69 and sophomore
Mason Brooking (Orange) finished with a time of 1:15.19 to place 28th. No Tiger reached the evening finals of the 100 Yard Breaststroke.
The Tigers will be back in action on Saturday, February 15, for the fourth and final day of the ODAC Swimming Championships. The first session is set to begin at 10 a.m. with the second session starting a 5 p.m. at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
