GREENSBORO, NC -- Seniors
Matt Brooks (Springfield),
Cody Carnes (Hartfield),
Quinn Hardimon (Alexandria) and freshman
Quinlan Ragsdale (Charlottesville) broke the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay record by 1.33 seconds, with a time of 1:27.94, as Hampden-Sydney College stands sixth out of eight schools with 74 points after day two of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Swimming Championships.
The Tigers added 50 points from day one, as the single event, the 800 Yard Freestyle, saw the foursome of Brooks, Carnes, Hardimon, and Ragsdale place seventh with a time of 7:26.51.
The one relay event of the evening was the record-breaking performance for the Tigers, as their time was good for sixth place.
Hardimon was the top finisher for the Tigers in the 500 Yard Freestyle, posting a time of 5:03.12 to place 23rd. Finishing in 30th was senior
Cole Renfrow (Bowling Green, KY) who posted a time of 6:20.61. Neither time was good enough to reach the final of the event.
Sophomore
Owen Renfrow (Bowling Green, KY) was the Tigers' top finisher in the 200 Yard IM, placing 26th with a time of 2:08.48. Sophomore
Peter Gonzalez (Bakersfield, CA) placed 28th with a time of 2:15.61 and junior
Jackson Piazza (Birmingham, AL) finished with a time of 2:33.28 to place 30th. Neither of the three reached the finals of the event.
In the final event for the Tigers, the 50 Yard Freestyle, Carnes was the top finisher in 20th with a time of 21.85 seconds, followed by Ragsdale in 21st with a time of 21.93 seconds. Brooks was the next Tiger to finish with a time of 22.82 seconds for 31st and sophomore
Mason Brooking (Orange) finished 38th with a time of 25 seconds. The final two Tigers to finish were senior
Carson Mann (Matthews, NC) in 42nd and freshman
Jordan Chorbaji (Charlotteville) in 43rd with times of 27.73 and 27.99 seconds respectively. No Tiger qualified for the finals of the event.
The Tigers will be back in the pool for day three of the ODAC Swimming Championships on Friday, February 14. The first session will begin at 10 a.m. and the second session will begin at 6 p.m. at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
