HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College sophomore
Sean Acree (Chesterfield) has been named the
Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Co-Golfer of the Week for the period October 1-7. Sean posted a collegiate-best 54-hole score of one-over par 71-75-68—214 to finish in a tie for sixth individually among 108 golfers at theÂ
West Pines Collegiate on Oct. 6-7 and played at the West Pines Golf Club in Douglasville, Georgia. He tied with four others at 214, including fellow Co-Golfer of the Week Chase Myers of ODAC member Averett University.
Acree had six birdies and nine pars during his collegiate-best and final round of 68 on the 6,739-yard, par 71 course, and finished the three rounds with one eagle, 10 birdies and 31 pars. He led the tournament field in par 5 scoring (4.50, -6), tied for third in eagles, tied for eighth in par 4 scoring (4.04, +1) and tied for ninth in birdies. His eagle was on the 504-yard, par 5 17th hole during the opening round. Acree is averaging 72.4 through two events and five rounds, and this is the first time that Sean has been named the conference (co)golfer of the week during his collegiate career.
H-SC will compete again in the two-day, 54-hole
Tartan Invitational on October 13-14 at the Laurel Valley Golf Club in Ligonier, Pennsylvania.
