Garnett Hall (Richmond) posted a first-round score of four-over par 76 on Monday to lead Hampden-Sydney College at the
76th Virginia State Golf Association (VSGA) Intercollegiate Championship being played at the Lake Chesdin Golf Club in Chesterfield. Hall is tied for fifth among the 41 collegiate golfers competing in the individuals-only tournament.
Hall had four birdies and seven pars on day one at the 6,835-yard, par 72 course. He was followed by senior

Nick Bernard (Southern Shores, NC) (77, T-8th), senior
Jack Hoyle (Midlothian) (78, T-12th) and freshman
Hudson Griffin (Pinehurst, NC) (78, T-12th), senior

Joseph Weinstein (Midlothian) (79, T-17th), junior
Peyton Lambert (Hartfield) (80, T-22nd) and freshman

Pierce Lambert and Bernard each had two birdies and 10 pars, respectively, while Hoyle had three birdies and seven pars and Griffin had two birdies and 10 pars, as well.
H-SC will continue and complete its competition in the two-day, 36-hole individuals-only tournament on Tuesday, October 21, in Chesterfield.
