HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College placed eight student-athletes on the 2024 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) All-Conference Men's Lacrosse Teams, including four First Team, two Second Team, and two Third Team.
Those selected to the First Team were senior
Ray O'Brien (Scituate, MA), senior
Thomas Harry (Troy), junior
Gaines Weis (Richmond), and junior
Conor Kilfeather (Wyndmoor, PA). Earning Second Team honors were seniorÂ
Peter Smith (Warrenton) and juniorÂ
Campion White (Apex, NC). Seniors
Michael Leone (Vienna) and
Patrick Saunders (Alexandria) earned Third Team honors.
A preseason Honorable Mention All-American by Inside Lacrosse, O'Brien was named First Team All-ODAC for the second straight season, and the third straight as an All-ODAC selection. He led H-SC with 41 goals and added 20 assists along with 22 ground balls. O'Brien played and started in 16 of the 18 games played. In half of his games played this season, O'Brien scored three or more goals and was named ODAC Offensive Player of the Week on February 26.
Harry earned First Team All-ODAC honors for the first team after being named Second Team All-ODAC a year ago. Harry had his best season for the Garnet and Grey, having career-highs in caused turnovers with 33 and ground balls with 48. He played and started 17 games, adding one assist and anchored one of the best defenses in the ODAC.
Weis earns First Team All-ODAC honors for the second straight season after being named an Honorable Mention Preseason All-American by Inside Lacrosse. Weis played in all 18 games and had career highs in caused turnovers with 29 and ground balls with 47. Weis scored four goals and added six assists while having six games this season with three or more caused turnovers.
Kilfeather earns First Team All-ODAC honors for the first time after being named to the Third Team last season. He played in all 18 games and led the Tigers in caused turnovers with 39 and ground balls with 82. Kilfeather scored five goals and added two assists while helping lead the defense that caused the most turnovers in the ODAC. Kilfeather also earned ODAC honors on February 26 when he was named ODAC Defensive Player of the Week.
Smith earned Second Team All-ODAC honors in his first season as the starting goalie for H-SC. The senior made 173 saves over 887:17 minutes, posting a 9.87 goals-against average. Smith posted a 12-6 record and a 54.2 save percentage this season.
White earned Second Team All-ODAC honors for the first time in his career. He started and played in 17 of the 18 games this season posting career highs in goals with 21 and assists with 11. In addition, he posted a career-high 15 ground balls and a career-high four caused turnovers.
Leone earned Third Team All-ODAC honors for the second straight season after season another bump in his production this season. He started and played in all 18 games this season, scoring a career-high 38 goals and tying his career-high with 23 assists. His 61 points this season were tied with O'Brien for the most on the team.
Saunders earns Third Team All-ODAC honors this season after being a First Team All-ODAC selection last season. He played and started in all 18 games this season, tying his career-high with 16 goals and added 16 assists. His 32 points this season was a career-high for him.
