HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College freshman
Jake Moore (Dry Fork) has been named the
Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Baseball Player of the Week for the period April 15-21. The right fielder led the Tigers to a 3-0 week while hitting .800 (8-10) with one triple, one double, two runs scored, three RBIs, one walk and three stolen bases.
Moore was 3-3 at the plate with the triple, double, one run scored, one RBI, the walk and a stolen base during a 7-2 home win past Virginia Wesleyan University on April 17 on Yank Bernier Field at the Ty Cobb Ballpark – Wurdeman Stadium. He followed with a 5-5 effort at the plate with one run scored, two RBIs and two stolen bases during a 16-4 road win in the opener of a doubleheader at Averett University on April 20 in Danville. Moore had a pair of ground ball outs before exiting the nightcap after four innings, a 17-6 win for the Tigers. Jake is batting .396 on the season with one home run, one triple, one double, 10 runs scored, 13 RBIs, nine walks and 7-9 stolen bases. He ranks eighth in the ODAC in batting average and is tied for 16th in on-base percentage (.469).
H-SC plays on the road at ODAC member University of Lynchburg on Tuesday, April 23, at 3 p.m. in Lynchburg. The Tigers return home to host non-conference opponent William Peace (NC) University on Thursday, April 25, at 3:30 p.m. at the Ty Cobb Ballpark – Wurdeman Stadium, before welcoming ODAC member Bridgewater College on Saturday, April 27, a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m. at Wurdeman Stadium on Senior Day.
