Hampden-Sydney B Golf Team Stands Second At The Glenn Heath Shipbuilders Memorial | C Team Stands 11th In Williamsburg

FARMVILLE, Va. -- The Hampden-Sydney College B Golf team posted a round of 302 on Monday to stand second among 14 teams at the Glenn Heath Shipbuilders Memorial being played at the Williamsburg Golf Club in Williamsburg. Freshman Peyton Lambert (Hartfield) is leading the Tigers with his one-over par round of 73 that is tied for second among the 79 collegiate golfers.

Peyton Lambert posted six birdies and five pars during his opening round on the par 72, 6,745-yard layout. He is being followed by freshman Joseph Weinstein (Midlothian) (75, T-10th), sophomore Pierce Lambert (Hartfield) (76, T-16th), senior Cole Williams (Kenbridge) (78, T-24th), along with sophomore Ryan Porterfield (Cumming, GA) (82, T-44th). Weinstein had three birdies and nine pars during his round, while Pierce Lambert had three birdies and eight pars, Williams had one birdie and 11 pars, and Porterfield had one birdie and nine pars.

The Tigers' C Team is competing in the tournament, as well, and posted a round of 324 to stand 11th. Juniors Knox Sirmans (Rome, GA) and Brody Smith (Yorktown) are leading the group with their respective rounds of 77, and are tied for 20th individually. They are being followed by freshman Tucker Smith (Richmond) (84, T-53rd), along with sophomores Jack Davis (Radford) (86, T-61st) and Cole Pollard (Manakin Sabot) (86, T-61st). Sirmans posted three birdies and eight pars, while Brody Smith posted one birdie and 12 pars. Tucker Smith had one birdie and nine pars, Davis had seven pars, and Pollard had two birdies and five pars.

Shenandoah University is leading the annual tournament with its round of 299, while Nick Barnes of William Peace (NC) University is the individual leader at 72.

The H-SC B & C teams will continue and complete competition in the two-day, 36-hole tournament on Tuesday in Williamsburg.
